I wouldn't bother with eating on the ride, it'll only slow you down as it will / should be under 35 minutes.

I'd probably suggest an apple before hand, or a gel whichever you'd prefer, just some sugar really and nothing that will sit heavy in your stomach.

sorry, I didn't mean to eat on the ride, I wanted to eat before I went
ill be eating a dinner around 12 o'clock
then if I didn't eat before I go, It wont be until 8 or 9 by the time I eat again and club ride the following morning

You dont need to carb load or anything like that for ~30mins of effort.
I would go for a larger lunch than usual then a small meal a couple of hours before the race. Just a sandwich or a salad or something. Nothing too heavy.

I dont suppose you got a turbo yet? A proper warmup is the best prep you can do for a 10. You probably wont have a lot of time for an evening race after work but try to get at least 20 mins if you can.

Can of Red Bull 30 mins before the off = PB

This works for me, i wouldnt try it for your first race though.

Forget redbull. PHD Charged gel is what you need contains 33kcal 4g protein (dem gainz) 2g carbs and a whopping 240mg of caffeine :D

New ribble sportive 7005 arrived yaay :)...except it's got black bar tape (not the red I ordered) and is missing the pedals I ordered with it. Boo :(

Grats on the new bike, get a photo up :) shame about the pedals and tape although black imo is always the best colour for bar tape.

Ribble seem to be letting people down quite a lot lately. Hopefully you'll be able to get it sorted without too much hassle!

Yeah the black tape I'm not too bothered about it matches the saddle colour and looks nice and tidy. Hopefully they send the pedals out soon and i can get some miles in on it.

Bloody hell, maybe not the best with my local TT starting at 7.

Dat insomnia.

Caffeine pills is the cheapest way to get some in you .. It does nothing for me i need a triple espresso just to get a little kick so 400mg before gym at 10pm and I'm sleeping like a baby by 1am again :o

I always do this! If I'm breathing out of my ass before I pass someone I'll take a deep breath, smile, give a cheery greeting, then get back to collapsing my lungs.

every. single. time.
it's best when they are in team kit.
on a carbon bike.

there's a guy who likes to draft me on the way home on his fancy carbon road bike, with his rapha kit.
I put the hurt down for most of the way home, he takes the lead after a couple of miles but drops the pace by 5mph? I mean wtf?

Porridge w/ jam or honey a couple of hours before you ride :)

good thinking, I could do that

no turbo, I will warm up when I get to the TT, we sign on about 6:30, start at 7
but tomorrow, we are starting at 6:45 due to the light

Chain and cassette were ****** so changed them today and decided to go ahead and fit the 105 chainset we had lying around. Realised it's a 52t but it certainly feels better than what was on before.

Love how ruined my fork crown is from the winter.

It's quick to get over that though. Stop drinking coffee for a week and then have an espresso before a race and you get pretty much the same kick off it as somebody who doesnt drink coffee.

Haha, hasnt everyone been in that situation? (or the guy behind you i mean)
You feel bad for sitting on the wheel so you come through and try to take a turn only to realise that you cant keep up the pace :(
At least he's trying to help and not just hiding behind you all the way.
