I wouldn't bother with eating on the ride, it'll only slow you down as it will / should be under 35 minutes.
I'd probably suggest an apple before hand, or a gel whichever you'd prefer, just some sugar really and nothing that will sit heavy in your stomach.

Forget redbull. PHD Charged gel is what you need contains 33kcal 4g protein (dem gainz) 2g carbs and a whopping 240mg of caffeine![]()

I always do this! If I'm breathing out of my ass before I pass someone I'll take a deep breath, smile, give a cheery greeting, then get back to collapsing my lungs.
Caffeine pills is the cheapest way to get some in you .. It does nothing for me i need a triple espresso just to get a little kick so 400mg before gym at 10pm and I'm sleeping like a baby by 1am again![]()

You dont need to carb load or anything like that for ~30mins of effort.
I would go for a larger lunch than usual then a small meal a couple of hours before the race. Just a sandwich or a salad or something. Nothing too heavy.
I dont suppose you got a turbo yet? A proper warmup is the best prep you can do for a 10. You probably wont have a lot of time for an evening race after work but try to get at least 20 mins if you can.
This works for me, i wouldnt try it for your first race though.

I put the hurt down for most of the way home, he takes the lead after a couple of miles but drops the pace by 5mph? I mean wtf?
