Absolutely LOVE my rollers! An hour of stop start frustration last night and I got the hang of it and stopped collapsing into the wall. Woke up this morning for a twenty minute blast before breakfast and I was far more comfortable. The level of concentration required is ridiculous -- if my form slips at all I feel myself rocking all over the place. Definitely going to be a fun addition over winter.

I am glad you got used to Rollers, I still cant, so they are up for sale :(

Using a smartphone for navigation is not great for numerous reasons:

-Battery life
-Screen visibility
-Bike mounting
-Weatherproofing

There's a reason Garmins sell by the bucketload despite carrying a somewhat inflated price tag.

you can get dynamo usb charges for bikes
you can buy extra /higher capacity batteries for pretty damn cheap
you can get bike or wrist mounts for mobile phones
water proofing isn't really an issue that is hard to solve

I'm sure some people do it but I guess with how expensive bikes are most people like the convenience of garmin and can afford the premium

altohugh you don't really need to see the screen for navigation like navfree has audible directions if you want them so you could have the phone in a pocket and plug in some headphones for directions

did I see someone after a rear light?

I would recommend the two I've used (especially the one I have now)
Topeak mega lite (can be seen upto 1 mile away) and fits on post or my topeak bag

or

Moon comet , very bright, but uses USB to charge rather than batteries

^ By the time you've done all that for a substandard navigation experience, may as well bought a Garmin in the first place.

Yes, you can buy lots of accessories to solve all the problems of using a phone.
It much easier to buy something that doesnt have all of these problems in the first place though.

edit: ha, exactly as above :D

it was me.. I've got a really bright light already, lights up the road but I HATE the way sits on my seat post.. I want something flat/inline with seat post so one of those 6 led lights look great, the fibre flare looks nice too but it looks more like a support/extra light not something i could use as the main light.

I just got an email from Van Nicholas; they have processed my order, and the bike is allocated to me. ETA is week 38, which is four weeks away. Happy days!

in that case a moon comet I think its called or it might be meteor , small, long the bracket "twists" so you can have it horizontal or vertical

Good news!

Don't get why it would be 4 weeks though? Outlet would suggest it's already built etc.

Pics when it arrives then? :)

that is the one I'm looking at right now :) it on the saddle rails which is great IMO, ill probably get it at the end of the month before it starts getting darker and all lights/clothing go up in price again..

Planet-X might have something compatible in price and set up to Ribble. I've not purchased a bike from Ribble, so I can't comment on their customer service, but I've never had any problems with Planet-X. I got a bike from their MTB company (On-One) which was fine other than arriving without a saddle - they rectified the mistake quickly, and I even got an upgrade out of it.

Yeah, P-X are one of the others I've looked at. The bike fitter I saw thought they might not be so great for me, as they have quite a racy geometry, and I'm after something more sportive-y, but I've been noticing lately that when I'm in the drops my arms are at like a 30 degree angle to the horizontal, and I don't feel like I'm getting super low. I can't fiddle with the saddle height, as that's right for my legs, so it's either about a longer top tube or a longer stem...

It matters...

...If you rock T and jeans on a bright yellow SS :D

I only rode it 3 times :( I think ill sign up to that classic/vintage 100miler ride around london and do it on SS, with padded shorts of course.

;)

I just got my Moon XP300 and shield set today too. What does it matter how they sit on your seat post?:p

I'm picky about looks and if something looks out of place on my bike it drives me nuts.. :s

it is well reviewed, they love that light
I did have it but then sold it, as I was off cycling for 2 months, I then decided I don't really need a good set of lights at the moment, but bought a topeak mega lite, just for emergencies if I get caught short
