*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Just out of curiosity, do you own a VITA or PS3? It's hard to get excited about devices you don't own (especially older ones). Obviously everyone is equally excited about XB1 and PS4 as they represent new unknown quantities, to some extent.

Yup, I have both a Vita and PS3 :)

The main reason not much excited me was that they focused a lot on indie games, which while great, are not something I want to play on my console. I have my PC for indie game as they tend to come out there first anyway.

As an aside, it is wrong that I giggled slightly at the pre-loaded inclusion of Playroom, a game designed to use the Playstation Eye, when most PS fans have shouted long and hard how they don't want a camera at all? :D

I need a nap - that kinda sent me to sleep especially the ****ed up camera changes. Like to know more about the preorder discounts, but the games mentioned (cant remember them) arent down my street anyway!

ps3ud0

If it was a matter of months between the Xbox and PS4 I'd see it differently, but they obviously both know they need to be available well before Christmas. Neither of them is going to suffer.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't think a fortnight difference in the release dates will make any real significant difference to the sales of either console, though I do believe MS would like to get theirs out first if they could. Like I said, I think it'll be incidental sales that will go the way of whichever console is out first, and that's assuming there are even any consoles on the shelves to buy. I've heard rumours that both consoles are selling well pre-order wise, so it might not actually make much difference really, except to give one particular set of consumers the chance to play next-gen games a couple of weeks before the others do.

I think Sony is likely to do better in those countries where the Xbox isn't launching until next year, assuming the PS4 is launching there this November. Not that they're huge markets anyway, of course.

Will PS4 game be queuable on existing PS+ accounts for downloaing if do not have a PS4, akin to the Vita downloads?

I bought a PS3 late in it's lifecycle, the newest revision, really cheap and was able to get all the best games cheap as well and PS+ has been awesome. I don't really want to get a PS4 at launch as most of the big titles will be on PC, would rather pick one up later on when they are cheaper along with some of the exclusives. Wandering if PS4 games will be able to be queued from my existing PS+ account, so that when I do buy a PS4 I will be able to grab all the games collection I have built up from PS+?

Is this possible? If so, Sony are awesome ! :D

Fair dues, I agree regarding VITA and PS3. I have them but indie stuff doesn't interest me a lot (I don't have a PC to play them on either).

I was gonna mention that playroom crap as well. Not to be too negative, but Only Sony would preload an application on every console and then have the hardware to use it separate! And playroom just looked like an advanced EyePet thing with multiple users.

I wonder if we will get more game details at the Tokyo Game Show, considering MS won't be there at all, it's ANOTHER chance for Sony to steal the show and march towards their launch with swagger.

So reading this thread, did bugger all really happen in that 3 hour conference?!?

You're a seemingly intelligent guy. I think you knew what time the conference started, I think you know 3 hours haven't passed, I think you probably know the conference is only 1.5 hours and the rest is some sort of panel or Q&A. This is why people use the term troll and fanboy :)
I preodered the PS4 from my local 24 hour Tesco extra on the 20th of June. Anyone know if this guarantees me to get a PS4 on day one?
I think the best bet is just turn up at a 24 hour supermarket 30 mins before midnight. That is the only sure fire way to gurantee it. I get the feeling shops have certain amounts they can reserve for pre-order and the rest is for launch day.
