Hi all

Whats does everyone think of Virgin broadband 60mb? I'm currently with BeThere ADSL2 syncing at around 22MB but kind of want more speed.....I cant get BT fiber as my flat is connected directly to exchange and not cab....

Currently I'm very happy with ping and service....so don't want to end up on a rubbish service just for speed.....

I've used VM in my last 3 houses and never had any issues, always had the speed I was quoted and decent pings.

Remember virgin will throttle your bandwidth to 40% (iirc) once you have downloaded 4GB in 1 day, they throttle for 4 hrs then you get full speed back.

I can get you a discount on VM if you like chap, before you sign up ;)

They are good, I've never heard of anyone having issues except myself. I've had a technician out 6-7 times now, new hubs, new parts in the areas around my house, and still it goes down 4-5 times a day.

Depends on your package, I'm on the 80mb line and never get my speeds throttled, even after downloading 500+GB in a day, the net stays consistent the whole time via speedtest and never drops it's 8mb/s p2p speeds.

Virgin don't throttle everyone anymore. They've kept quiet about it but their STM has recently been removed in various areas around the country including mine. As they aren't saying anything about it we can only assume they lifted it in areas that aren't congested or are trialing it that way.

Even in areas that are it's reduced by 40% not reduced to 40% when you go over the threshold during peak times, plus it's hourly and 2 hourly not 4 hours.

@Omaeka typo? there is no 80mb package, it's 60 or 100/120 :p
