cheap and economical car please

Exactly the reason i chose my 1.6 Focus, average 39mpg and on an eco long run i can get 52mpg.
Servicing is very cheap as well.

Passat 1.9 TDI, easy to find a good one for £3k and far better than a ford. Parts are cheap too if you buy online and the engines are much more reliable than just about every other diesel for 3k.

LPG converted V8 Lexus, the equivalent of 60 MPG on a run, engines are good for trips to the moon, and as LPG vehicles have no carbon footprint you can be happy your saving the environment while wafting around in style :)

I would do this in a heat beat. I had a v8 Soarer for a while and i loved that engine (and the car) to bits. i wish i had converted it to LPG as i was doing a few too many miles, although it wasn't that bad on fuel averaging high 20's. It was a great all rounder.

Mk2 Octavias are into the sub £3k bracket. You'll be looking at more leggy examples if you go diesel or there are some really low mile petrols out there. I think they look quite smart and they are pretty comfortable.
