How safe is Egypt at the minute?

I'd go tomorrow if I had the money, Red Sea resorts are fine, Egypt needs the tourism.

What is happening there is sad, but the Muslim Brotherhood are essentially terrorists, acting violent, calling for violence.

So why were the brotherhood voted in wnd elected in the first place? I could have told each egyptian why it would be w terrible idea but they went for it anyway- they should have stuck by the decision and then voted him out next election and reversed any bad decisions at that point not use gunboat politics every time they get a bit unhappy as that just shows that they cannot handle democracy.

People not used to elections and not understanding the consequences of voting for the wrong guy. After one year Morsi had made such a balls-up of Egypt that he had zero chance of being re-elected, but still had another four years to screw things up.

I am supposed to be going in 2 weeks to Hurghada for a 2 week holiday.

Going into Thomas Cook tomorrow to discuss switching destinations away from Eygpt.

Switched from Hurghada to Cyprus for next week.

Don't fancy going to Egypt and being confined to barracks. Plus all the workers will be on edge and I want a relaxing holiday, not a tense one.

Why? Hurghada is over 400km from Cairo. It's like saying trouble over in john o groates would bother you in lands end. The places are so far apart and a world in difference. I highly doubt the staff will have a care!

My sister is on holiday in Hurghada and despite my fears and fear mongering to her, she is having a brilliant time and staying in the resort without issue.

Still, stupid place to go for a holiday.

Don't be so ignorant... You know why and have done nothing but rile people in this thread to prompt a response so you can demonstrate how it's perfectly safe.

Look but 5 posts up and you are talking about going out in a few weeks to riot.

To be honest, your lackluster approach to the matter will probably get you hurt or worse.

Best of luck to you

Wow, that escalated quickly.

I was interested to know your opinion as you seem quite matter of fact on the matter. You're quite aggressive on these forums, is it since your little knock??

So clearly you've watched the news and are sucked into what is being reported. So let me ask you, would you advise against travel to Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Thailand, Kenya (and pretty much anywhere in Africa really), Cambodia, Turkey.... all have warnings on the FCO, but they're not plastered all over the news are they, so they're not of concern, and we shouldn't be scare mongering those!

Tell me, did you flee the UK when the entire country was on fire? When Birmingham, London, Manchester, Notts, etc were rioting. Did you fear for your life? Troll indeed. Go back to not lifting, phaggot.

I don't remember running battles with live fire and rioters razing police stations and other buildings (for clarity talking buildings with security presence) and/or executing everyone inside in cold blood during the riots here.

Also while parts of Egypt may be relatively safe at the moment the country is in turmoil (in terms of government stability, etc.) to a far greater level than most of those countries you listed (though some African states aren't exactly in great shape). Coupled with the main points of arrival and departure being in many cases in close proximity to ongoing troubles its certainly something that should be considered very carefully before taking a holiday there.
