Living room gaming setups

I'm going to build a gaming PC for my living room tomorrow when my components arrive, wondering how you guys set up your keyboard, mouse, pad etc. in the living room?

I'm thinking a little table that I can move around that will house the keyboard, and mouse, already have a wired 360 controller with a long lead for those games that it's more applicable for.

Some sort of cushion tea tray affair might work too I guess. Anyway, any tips much appreciated.

I have my feet up on a footstool, keyboard on lap and the mouse on a small side table.

Much prefer it to sitting up at a desk

Yeah that sounds good, did you shop around to get a table the right height or did you just happen to have one that worked?

Needs to be nice and solid too of course, any wobble would do my head in.

Pc is in my living room, so got a new desk it just wouldn't fit in the alcove, its up against the wall one end in the alcove, nice desk for the price.

I have almost the same desk, just different colour and no keyboard tray (although I think that would be a nice addition).

I'd probably go with the keyboard on lap with a small table for the mouse, I usually just sit at my desk though. Try a few different options to see what feels best to you, got something you can use as a makeshift table before buying one (just in case you decide you don't need one)?

I do this at the moment and hate it. Can't wait to get a monitor and desk!

Gaming with a keyboard/mouse requires the fixed arm position you get at a desk. I've tried the sofa method in various forms using a projector. There is no comfortable position for intense gaming - casual offline games may be fine tho.

Using the mouse is fine, but using a keyboard like that a bit of a nightmare imo.

That sofa combo looks really comfortable. A weekend of experimenting awaits me I think.

I'd love to know what Valve have been up to with their controller ideas for Steam box.
