BMW and M Power Owners

I know I can probably find this info anywhere, but thought I'd ask here anyway as most of you are more likely to change your own oil:

Any recommendations for which oil to use? Gotta drop mine and fit a level sensor, so thought I'd change the filter etc while I was at it. LL01 is 0w 40 fully synthetic I believe?

Probably best to stick with the manufacturer's recommended Castrol Edge. LL01/04 are specifications rather than the viscosity of the oil, so you can find oils which are 5w30, 0w40, 5w40 etc. which meet the specifications laid out by BMW.

e46 throttle adaption is a piece of cake compared to the e90, still quite easy to do though.
Had my gearbox flashed with the Alpina software a few weeks ago, massive improvement over standard.

I've been recommended 5w 30 but then read in a lot of places that 0w40 is better. I was just wondering what the OcUK consensus was as for the most part, we're all sensible chaps!

Got a bit bored so decided to do the red needle mod to my E46.

Boring before:

Snazzy after:

Cost: 99p
Time: a whole 15 minutes. :D

Thanks, and yeah I missed that one on purpose lol. I figured I don't need to see that one racing around the dash but I can always change the colour of that dial at a later date if it doesn't suit being white/grey. I've not driven the car since doing it so I was going to evaluate that one.

Anyone had any experience of e61 530d's?

Going looking at one (pre-LCI estate, not much available in Gibraltar selection-wise), late 2006, 50,600 miles, beige leather, satnav, 6 speed auto, etc.

Anything I should look out for during test drive/general inspection?

Rear suspension squeaks
What are you assuming to be break down costs? are you going BMW warranty or cash in bank? have you got £2k aside now?

Not much idea, using the general BMW wisdom down these parts. Can stomach 600 a year average. 2k ish, yup. Insurance I've got a quote for £420, so that helps.

Fox no comparable A6's round these parts. My impending future is kind of pointing towards me requiring more space. This kinda fits the bill, and I did like the old E36 323i I had yonks ago...

Well, two weeks after i've had the car back following a new clutch and flywheel it now has to go into the garage again because the DSC, tyre pressure and DTC lights have all flashed up on the dash.

Since i've had this car it's had a new rear diff, all suspension ball joints replaced, new belts, pulleys and tensioners, turbo hoses replaced and the stuff listed above

All within the 3 year warranty period...

German reliability my crotch, think i'm going back to Alfa Romeo!

Is it possible to download new software updates, not maps, for the Professional Navigation (CIC not CIC-HIGH) system in a 2012 F21?

All I've managed to find so far is a Bluetooth update that can be applied via USB.

Next time it's in for a service or, like mine, work under warranty just ask them to do it for you?

As an add on to my last post my stop-start has now stopped. Yey?

just shoved some 224 style alloys on my car, thought I'd share

i also debadged and had it hunter aligned too :)

now just need to add the aero skirts and m bumpers which are sitting behind my head and nagging me to set them up!

Just found 4 litre tubs of Castrol Edge 5w30 for £27 on eBay, so now have plenty of oil on the way and can finally fit the poxy oil level sensor!
