Splinter Cell Blacklist (23/08/13)

My thoughts exactly, Love their excuse for not having MR Ironside as Sam any more -

I bet they didn't mention that the Smallville guy is 1/4 the price of Ironsides voice alone. Ironside is huge in SC for fan service and they dropped the ball. Kojima has done the same, but I can't in any way see Kiefer Sunderland being cheaper than Hayter so I think they replaced him to genuinely try and improve the experience (we'll see how that goes eh), but IMO Ubi just did this to cut costs.

To be fair to Kiefer he has a great voice and is very distinct and could actually play quite a good Snake although I would've preferred Hayter and Kiefer in a different role but not totally devastated.

New Splinter Cell voice is a complete nomark who sounds generic

Nothing here either. Do you have to go through the code process again?

Apparently not I messaged Ubi and the reply said the game will appear in your Uplay account once it has been released. I imagine it will show up tomorrow. Not looking forward to a 20GB download from uplay.

Im itching to play this game as im a massive SC fan. Im not going to enjoy the massive 20gb download. Last time I had to do that was bf3 and that took 7hrs total time :( lets hope uplay release it early in the morning here so we can atleast play it sometime after lunch!

I'm on 120mb but Ubi has been horrendous for me in the past. Hopefully things have changed. Shame they did not offer a pre load though...

Installing mine now its an epic install......3 x DVD9's well over 20GB.

Bought the Ultimatum Edition with the 2 DLC Maps & a Digital Watch & Comic Book :D

It needs the following fix otherwise it will not even run after the patch this is from the Ubisoft forums its not my fix:
http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/787628-Can-t-Launch-Blacklist-via-Steam-or-Uplay

Edit your VideoSettings.ini located in the following location:
C:\Users\<yournamehere>\Documents\Ubisoft\Blacklis t\videoSettings.ini

I just typed VideoSettings.ini into the start menu and it pulled it up that way too.

Change the "WindowStyleFinal=1" option to 0 or 2.

0 = Windowed
1 = Fullscreen (default)
2 = Windowed Fullscreen

0 and 2 both allow the game to start.

Took me over an hour to be ingame...........40 mins to install from 3 DVD's. 10 mins to install the 1.7GB Patch (which i had dled last night).

Ubisoft what have you done :eek::rolleyes::(
The new Sam Fisher voiceover is a complete disaster not only does he sound nothing like Ironside he has such a bland/weak presence it has totally ruined the experience & taken most of the atmosphere away this has become a COD wannabe.

Graphically its still not as pretty as Chaos Theory either despite using some new pretty DX11 shader FX & a more advanced shadow scheme the whole thing is undone by low poly counts on key characters, low res textures (still uses 19GB HD space) & console friendly small loading levels.

If Ironside was providing the voiceover (I see no reason he could not) as the performance capture adds NOTHING to the overall experience here you hardly see the mouths anyway. Ubisoft are full of BS about having to sync the voice to the actor doing the performance on their virtual sets.

The no Ironside presence will hurt this games sales a lot Ubisoft should be on the phone to his agent right now asking how much for him to get into a studio on Monday & record those lines ASAP whoever decided on the replacement deserves to lose their job thats a terrible decision it kills the series instantly Ironside simply is Sam Fisher :(
