***The Official Battlefield 4 Thread***

Yearly cod?

BF3 has been out for nearly two years.

Anyway I'm excited still 720p upscaled to 1080p will still look nice. I'd rather have 60fps and 64 players for a LAUNCH title.

Maybe the high hopers can play BF5 @ 1080p.

Am I the only one who isn't bothered by the resolution? In the videos the graphics look nice and the gameplay is slick. That's all I want.

Same here. Nice graphics, good frame rate, nice effects, better animations. I'd take them over getting the resolution higher. And people forget this is the one of the first games on the X1/PS4.

Dice have said the rumour of 720 upscaled isn't true. Have to wait and see I guess.

That rumour came from Jack Frags who is a very well known respectable youtuber in the battlefield and COD community. He got his info from an interview with lars Gustavsson who is creative director at DICE and is mr battlefield. He's been around at dice for years and was involved in nearly every battlefield game ever made

Interesting to hear how he got that wrong.

*edit* just seen thesixthaxis has updated their article

The final res hasn't been decided yet and the game is running at 1080p in the dev environment

You make it sound like a bad thing. There wasn't a lot wrong with BF3. All they had to do is improve it and add some new features.

Change it too much and it's not battlefield. It's better than what battlefield 2142 and Vietnam were. Vietnam was accused of being a mod for 1942 just like 2142 was accused of being a mod for BF2. No point pretending that changing the time frame of the game would make people happy as it wouldn't people would still want more in their sequel

Yet the exact same for CoD and that game gets lambasted.

Dual titans I believe. I am near certain all BF4 footage at E3 was from PC even at the Microsoft keynote.

how backwards and full of no sense is that.....its really annoying, why showcase bf4 at the x1 event on a pc that is nothing like the console.

also since x1 has got the exclusive deal with dice, why is it that ppl can play the ps4/pc version only at gamescom. whats happened to the x1?

It's only the second assault dlc that comes to Xbox first, the rest are normal times.

Maybe Dice didnt have a good running code for Xbox to show off yet, Some say that Fifa was quite poor for next gen on the ONE.

Interesting videos from Jackfrags . Looks like the USAS portable IFV cannon is back, but only as a power weapon which has to be found on the floor like the Barrett 50 cal semi auto that was shown in the trailer.

Looks like the IRNV scope has been buffed and is actually useful again now. Wonder how long it will last before people complain and get it nerfed

I was only semi joking :)

I am fine with the progression of the games and I've sunk many hours into all of them since the first one. Looking forward to full maps on consoles this time. From the footage I've seen graphically it doesn't look like that much of a leap but meh it'll still play well and that's the most important thing for me.

I agree, although it depends where you are coming at it from. For those who played BF3 on PS3/360 only it will be a major upgrade. Those who have fawned over BF4 footage on PC might be disappointed (somewhat).

I had a bit of an argument with a friend over whether or not microsoft where being dishonest at E3 showing off the game like they did. If it was EA then, yeah fine, use the PC version as it will be the strongest version but at microsofts own keynote I felt it was dishonest.

From BatlefieldO

LEVOLUTION. The term has been spoken over and over. Our favorite game has been Levolutionized. We don't destroy stuff anymore, we Levolute it instead (hey, it's a verb)! We've seen and heard Levolution described in at least a dozen different ways since Battlefield 4 was announced. So what is it?

Allow me to break it down into its simplest form: Levolution can be defined as "anything that changes the level you're playing on." All of these fancy descriptions really just come down to that. It just seems bigger when you think about all of the awesome ways this can happen during game play, which is probably why everyone involved with this game in any way is so excited by the concept. Because it hasn't simply changed game play, but has further set this game apart from any other in the genre.

Let's take a look at the ways Levolution has been shown to affect Battlefield 4 so far.

Many of the game changing experiences can be triggered by the player. Just be careful, because in Mother Russia, Levolution destructs you! In all seriousness, some of these events may be worth fighting for, while some may be worth fighting against. Gamers may want to cause these events in order to gain an advantage on the Battlefield. Or , let's face it, sometimes we all have fun making something really cool happen. Other times, such episodes may really screw up your strategy. Either way, here's a list of the things we've learned so far that players can have some control over:

Birds may fly out of the bushes you're sneaking around
Players can set off car alarms
Metal detectors can go off
Players can activate bollards to control vehicle access
Shutters can be lowered to block off an area
Train doors can be closed to trap enemies
Lights can be turned off in some buildings, enveloping players in darkness
An elevator can be used to reach the top of a skyscraper, opening a new area
Bridges can be destroyed, making vehicle access to some areas more challenging
On a larger scale, events can be triggered by destruction. Those of us familiar with the Battlefield series are used to destruction, but Levolutiontakes it to a whole new level:

Support beams can be destroyed to collapse the street above
A levee on an urban map can be blown to flood an entire city
A huge skyscraper can be brought crumbling down on Siege of Shanghai
A damaged destroyer can be freed on Paracel by destroying the windmill it's caught on
In another map, players will battle to either start or stop a countdown for a warhead
Falling trees will cause damage to vehicles and players
The trailer below shows some of the above. It also hints at even more destruction, with falling power lines and more rolling boulders than an Indiana jones movie.

Finally, the dynamic weather changes we've already seen alter the lighting in the map, plus create wind effects that add excitement to the environment. But beyond that, lightning caused by the storm strikes the aforementioned windmill, eventually freeing the destroyer for us. Also in Paracel Storm, we've seen the effect that this inclement weather has on the seascape. Large waves add a new element to naval battles, or, as I like to call them, frog fights. You may be fighting against your enemies, while nature fights against you. Or, you may learn to use the waves to your advantage, catching big air or using them to cover your escape. Either way, this form of Levolution is a big change from what we're used to.

I can't wait to see more of the amazing examples of this concept that the developers have in store for us, and I get the feeling that they're as excited as I am to show us!
