New PS3 owner - what games to get?

Feeling a bit lost here. I bought a PS3 Slim from the MM and The Last of Us at the same time.

Both arrived yesterday so I set about playing. Console was extremely loud after 15 minutes - louder than my launch day 360 that I modded to be silent. So after ripping the PS3 apart, I rebuilt it with new thermal paste and fan rubber mounts. It did the trick from the looks it it. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/120915/ps3.jpg - nekkid PS3!

Now I am stuck. This is my first Playstation and I have no idea what games to look at other than the Uncharted series and GTAV.

Never enjoyed MGS4, so I can't personally recommend it but most would.
 
Uncharted 1-3 as you've mentioned, the Ratchet & Clank games are superb too. Might be worth grabbing a PS+ subscription and making good use of that, provided you haven't played most of those games already on PC/Xbox.

MGS4 is excellent though probably only worthwhile if you've played the series from the start, but you can get MGS1 on PSN fairly cheap and then there's the MGS HD Collection, or just get the MGS Legacy Collection which comes out next month I think, it's got all of them. Heavy Rain is also pretty good, the new one by the same developer comes out in October too (Beyond: Two Souls).

Plenty of good stuff on the PS Store too, like Flower, Journey, Savage Moon if you like tower defence games, Wipeout HD etc.
 
Thanks chaps, I think thats given me more than enough to look at now. I'll pass on the AC games as I have them all on the PC...AC3 was the worst to be honest! I do have PS+ but haven't really looked around properly yet.
 
MGS4 is a must, along with GT5. I cannot comment on the other exclusives most rave about as I've never bothered with them, most other games I have played are on both Xbox & PS3.
 
get PS+ today as it updates on the 28th, you will get Infamous 2 & Uncharted 3 then on the 28th you also get Assasins Creed 3 and Jack and Daxter HD

if your quick you can still get Demons Souls until the 28th (if you download before then you can play it aslong as your PS+ sub is active)

also worth mentioning Dark souls if you didnt play it on the 360 along with demons souls 2 of the best games this generation.

Ni No Kuni is a beautiful and a very nice JRPG

and if you have never played the the MGS series MGS4 is excellent but worth picking up the HD collection and 1 off the PSone Classics

think they should keep you entertained for some time
 
The Resistance trilogy is a good shooting selection, people argue about which is best. All have a different feel and all are good in their own way (at least in my opinion).

Just to throw in a wildcard: Folklore is a weird but fun RPG, it actually uses the six-axis function. Not everyone's cup of tea though by a long shot.
 
Lol theres one of these threads every week lately ;)

Uncharted 2, The last of us, infamous 1 and 2, resistance 3, god of war 3, metal gear 4, ni no kuni would be the stand outs for me

I wish I knew someone like you locally to basically "service" my console, i just don't trust myself not to break it or be able to put it all back together after opening it up, I did swap a laser on a mate's console though, but that was very simple stuff.

PS+ is the best think you can buy for your PS3, I also recommend MAG doesn't get the recognition it deserves, lots still playing and cable picked up cheap.

I got a code in my copy of Infamous 2 to get 50% off the original Infamous on the Ps store.Its yours Kainz if you want it as i already own the game.
