Hi all,

Currently have a Peugeot 306 HDI 2.0 - great car but it's had its fair share of bashings over the years and I am up to nearly 120k on the clock - within the next year or so I think it's probably going to be the end of it.

Returns a great MPG so would like something similar.

Been looking at Audi A3 and Audi A4 with the 1.9 TDI engines around the 100-140k mark.

From what I have seen on the forums as long as they have been looked after this is no issue.

Open to hear other views and car suggestions.

Could probably go for a Polo with the same engine. I have a skoda Fabia which is basically a polo. Has the same 1.9tdi engine as the Audi/polo etc.

Keep the HDI. If you want to improve it a little, get a £30 remap file off the owners forum and a set of cyclones from a gti6 if it hasn't got them already

Another vote for keeping the pug till it dies. The Hdi is about on a par with the vag pd tdi anyway, which you'd be picking up on similar if not more miles than your own car. It's galvied too so rust "shouldn't" be an issue unless it's been really poorly repaired in the past. 8L A3s have a real problem with the bottom of the doors and sills rusting as well as the water channels on the roof, the boots disintegrate on the mk4 golf too.

There isn't much I'd change the pug for at the money, Octavia would be a decent alternative as above, but I don't think you'll really gain anything out of it (other than a different car)

Well, it's probably going to be in addition to the Pug, we have just sold the girlfriends car, and looking for a diesel to replace, but we don't want another pug or skoda.

Cambelt should be due soon on the HDI.
