Hello all,
As you can see from the title I'm not sure what to do. I am looking for a new system to get in the next 2 months. I'm not going to go into specs just yet as I haven't decided.

I have looked into the prebuilt systems that Ocuk have to offer and the thought that they come built already with 2 year warrenty seems good to me. But also I think to myself I could build my own of again.

I can't decide because I'm not sure what it best as I know many components have a 3 year warrenty. And the pre built only has 2.

It seems a no brainer in terms of how long the warrenties are to go and build myself.

Think you have answered your own question - build it yourself, satisfaction and all that.

If you have the will to give building a go i suggest do it, thats how i got into it..

I didn't get shown/taught by anyone, i just researched for a few months and then one day (was 4.30pm on a wednesday in march 2010) pushed that button and never looked back. :D

There are loads of guides out there and a lot of knowledgeable people to advice you on part selection. :)

I have kinda answered the question myself i know and also built a computer before.

I think i need to snap out of asking myself and build myself. Now the fun part of getting the component list together for my £1300 budget.

I have NEVER bought a PC. I have always built them up.

I rarely get issues and when I do they are usually so silly that I feel a prat when I ask for help and its somethign obvious, or, they are really annoying things that I do genuinely struggle with, but given the fact that I own over a dozen fairly decent PCs, I think my issues are very few and very far between.

Now, last month, I bought a PC for the first time and I bought it for my mother.

Its back in my house and I have had so much hell with it, that I have used the Case, Disks etc but replaced the Mobo, Ram, CPU and PSU with some of my older stuff.

I will NEVER buy another PC again... Not a cheap and nasty one anyway.

I have to admit my girlfriends family have asked me to help them with their computers they bought many many times. My current computer I built back on 2007(rocking q6600) and it still going strong. Very proud of it as it was my 1st build also.

Building a PC is not that difficult at all as long as you take your time and check as you go. If you hit problems or are unsure there are plenty on here only to willing to help. Time to spec up and build your second ever PC Lol.

Need any help just shout - only too pleased to help.

Danny

My last PC was pre built about 5 or 6 yrs ago also with a Q6600 Quad.

This time I have took the plunge and over the last two weeks have aquired bit's and now have it assembled - Just treble checking everything and waiting for my new monitor ordered from OC here.

The fitting of bit's together I have enjoyed but am bit worried about next bit -Firing it up.

So at a few month's off 70 I am quite pleased with myself - So do it and don't look back.

Very good advice there..

Powering up is the fun bit.. If it works you feel like a god, if it doesn't you just have a fiddle some more. :D

I don't mean this to sound offensive (becuase it's not, its the opposite) but 70 is a grand age to start this kind of project..

Very well done for having the courage to do something different.. :D

I'd love to have that open frame of mind at that age. :)

Brilliant advice thanks Dave!

If you can Follow an instruction book and have some common sense you can build your own pc and NEVER be afraid to ask for help these forum are the best place everyone helpful ,

And if you build it you will know how to fix it ! lol

Doomed - Danny

Thank's for kind words -- the frame of mind is there - just wish body was so accomodating. -- I really did struggle getting MB screw's in - fingers don't work to good anymore.

I think tomorrow is launch day when new monitor is connected. - Just cleared desk space.

Why is it you loose a lead - can't find power lead for PSU - it was in box - good job had new one in loft.
