Hi

My girlfriend has just bought a 2005 Mazda 3 1.6TS saloon and everything is great except for one little niggle.

She said when driving at above about 60mph she can start to feel the accelerator peddle vibrate slightly. The vibration goes away when applying pressure on the pedal but can be felt again as you come off the accelerator.

There is no vibration through the clutch peddle or gearstick at all and everything else seems fine other than this funny vibration at motorway speeds.

As it only starts to happen over 60mph i am wondering if it is a wheel balance issue maybe? However, there is no vibration through the steering wheel at all.

Any ideas?

Is it a drive by wire throttle or cable? (guessing electronic)

Could be as simple as getting down and checking nothing is loose at the pedal box

If its electronic, the throttle accelerator is just a pedal box, check it is bolted tightly down and correctly in place, they are generally a very tight fit, almost click/snap into place in some cars and then have a securing bolt.

If its a cable throttle type, trace the throttle cable, it could be slack and need some adjustment.

Thanks. The place she bought it off is a main Mazda/Suzuki dealer (although it isnt a proper used approved car) so i will get her to take it back and let them take a look at it.

I just wanted an idea of what it might be as it is funny one and only seems linked to the accelerator pedal ( i.e. no steering wheel vibration, clutch vibration or any other strangeness)
