I think its the viewdistance that really hammers home the realism. Even in BF3 etc you just cant see very far compared with real life. In A3 (and even2) when you whack the VD up.. it totally feels real and is quite breath taking.

BF3 is hardly what I would call a real world simulator, it's first and foremost an FPS game. Arma i'd call a simulator.

54.213.148.127 is the TS3 server we are on.. Melbo is building a quick mission just now..

Ran very well for me, 3770k 4.6ghz and AMD 7970.

Opened up the editor, placed a heli at the airport, turned the view distance up, GPU just stopped on 0% usage at 0 fps

Gtx 590 and 3770k @ 4.6

60-80fps with all details on their highest settings i7 2600k at 4.7ghz and 7970

That stratis life is odd. Lulzy at first, literally in tears at some points to "oh **** these people should be playing 2nd life, I'm out of this carebear rp" to "howy sheet that was the best 2 hours of gaming since neocron".

Altis certainly should provide lots of awesome gaming when the missions start coming in.

Had half an hour on a mission in Altis. So good. Looks great. Amazing how completing an objective in Arma can give you such a sense of achievement.

Just picked this up, very impressed with this game!
on a mix of High to very high I' getting about 40fps down to around 25 in towns with stuff going on.
Im running a 8350 and a GTX480 with 4gb ram. WOuld I be better off OC my CPU or getting a new GFX card? NOt really sure what holds arma back more. I have 16gb RAM and running at 1680x1050, though looking at getting a 1080p monitor/tv soon.

Me and a mate when on the dev build last night and tried some altis servers. Man there either empty of things to kill or fps is really crap. We must have tried about 6 last night. I hope a decent one comes along that has decent fps cos i really dont wana have to search that hard for some sort of server with altis on next time.

Jeez, it was only released yesterday afternoon. It's gonna take time for people to sort some missions out considering the size of the map they have to play with. I'd imagine there will be a few missions up tonight.

Lol i know. It still was kinda annoying tho.

Like i said to my mate that it probably should improve, its a bank hol mon so they might have a good chunk of time for porting or making stuff for the map and then maybe somit tomorrow (today) might be up or in around a few more days to a week.

Tho saying that. It used to be hit and miss a lot even on stratis maps.
