Splinter Cell Blacklist (23/08/13)

Right... I am a HUGE SC fan, have enjoyed all the games in the series so far, even Double Agent! Obviously Chaos Theory is the best and nothing has even come close to that.

My question is, has this taken a turn for the worst? I want stealth and although I enjoyed conviction, it wasn't really a proper stealth game.

The level layout in conviction was linear and obvious in terms of routes and options.

How does this shine? Is it worth my money?

A lot lot better than conviction, lots more gadgets to do your stuff stealthily like in CT, much better AI although it can still be dumb.

Pretty much the only thing I dislike is they've given Sam a new voice when they should've just made a new character, lack of Ironside sucks

Yea, heard about the voice change. While annoying, it's not a game breaker for me. Hmmm, how is level design? And how long is the campaign?

From what I've played so far (roughly 2 hours or so) I'd say it's found a good balance between Conviction and classic Splinter Cell. The campaign missions seem to allow a lot of freedom, whether you want to go complete stealth or go absolutely crazy. It also has a lot of content, with the side/co-op missions and Spies vs Mercs, probably one of the biggest Splinter Cell games. I'd say it's easily worth the money, although there are a few places you can get it for less than £30. GMG are still offering a 20% off voucher which knocks it down to £24 for the digital copy.

Thinking of buying this on Steam. What is in the limited edition? Is it worth the extra money for it?

I was just thinking the same haha.

Basically, in short 2 extra missions, weapons, armour upgrades and suit unlocks (I imagine you can get all of these via the in game currency system anyway so pointless unlocks). You also get early access to the upcoming DLC....

Doesn't really sound worth it apart from those 2 missions.

I might... Might get it. Sod it.

I have gone for the normal version at £24 from gmg using the 20% off code.

The in game suit I don't think can be bought with in game credits from the special edition - it's listed under it's own category iirc

Haha, nice to know I'm not the only one. :)

Yeah I don't mind paying the extra £5 for the missions and the DLC. :) And if I buy through Steam I don't have to go through Uplay I guess?

I bought the Echelon version from Uplay for £29.99.

"The Upper Echelon Edition contains :

The Dead coast single player and coop map
A pair of gold goggles
The legendary Upper Echelon Suit
The Panther Pack : The VSS Sniper Rifle, The MBS Boots"

Is there a way to completely reset SP progress and restart? I want to replay on highest difficulty only using stealth, but seems I can only replay the missions and not completely start over.

edit: nvm, settings > restart story.
