Cat is throwing up white foam and is very lethargic. Anyone know what could be causing it?

Are we allowed medical threads about kitties?

My cat, who is usually very keen to annoy you all the time and loves eating has been lying around doing nothing for the last day or so and not eating his food or treats. He also doesn't seem to be drinking much. Add to this he's throwing up foam every couple of hours (after a bit of wailing). I don't think he's very well.

Anyone have any experience of what could be up with him? He's an indoor cat, and nothing has changed in his diet/the flat.

He doesn't look very happy :(.

I would probably go to the vets asap, a quick google shows many possible things with a vet visit being always advised.

Yes when something is up with the Cat take him to the Vet, just like if us humans are not well we go to the Doctors. Pure Logic lol!

I'll phone the vets in the morning, I'm seeing if anyone has any suggestions of things I could do tonight.

He's quite old, fifteen or so and he gets fed Whiskas tinned food plus the odd bit of meat from my dinner.

It's lungs might be filling up with fluid which happened to one of my mums cats

the vet stuck a syringe in each side and and pulled out all the foamy water crap :S
I think the problem ended up being an enlarged heart (she was an adult cat before her heart was to weak) and she was on medication until she died

is your cat struggling for breath and refusing to move anywhere? my mums wouldn't even drag itself to the litter tray and we found it lieing in it's own urine

You really want to get it to a VET right now if you can
