Hey chaps and chapesses, I used to be able to get my female Ivona voice speaking my google satnav directions, but not anymore. How do I get her to connect with the satnav? I think I used to have Ivona speaking my satnav since changing to Jellybean but it's decided to switch to the default male voice. She reads out my calendar appointments so I know the voice actually works. Oh, this is for the SGS2 btw.

Not wishing to sound impatient, so forgive me, but this is like the fourth or fifth thread, or question in a thread I've made in this forum over the past few weeks, and haven't had a single reply to any of them. Am I invisible or something? :p Harder questions are posted than mine for the experts here, and I know there are some very knowledgeable people here. C'mon guys, help a (dated) phone user out, s'il vous plait. :)

I don't even know what Ivona is and I have an S2 :p is it a different voice for the sat nav? If so I have no idea how you change away from the default.

It's a fairly niche app and probably not a use case many have here which is probably why you've not had many replies. Also your question is really only something the dev would be able to answer. Have you tried any of the contact methods they have put in the description?

Good call, thanks. :)

I went into the application manager and deleted the maps cache to get mine working. Although the first sentence is still the guy and it then switches to the ivona voice.

Don't know why that won't work for me. I deleted the cache, didn't work. Funny thing is, this doesn't seem to be an exclusive issue just with Ivona. In the phone's text to speech preferred TTS engine, if I select Google Text-to-speech and the female voice (English United States) and then load satnav, it still defaults to the male english voice (same voice as Google Text-to-speech English UK). The only one that works and changes my satnav voice is Samsung TTS female voice. So something is weird with my phone.

edit, doesn't even use the Samsung TTS female voice now. So the satnav is stuck with one dull voice.

Sorry this will be far too late for the OP. I've been using Ivona with Navigate 6 and find that it periodically just stops working. This seems to occur when I run some OTA ROM Updates on my phone and other random intervals that I've not yet identified the cause of.

When this happens, in Android text to speech settings, select Ivona Text To Speech HQ, Go to ''Install Voice Data', select the voice and then hit the 'Play' button (you don't actually need to reinstall). After this the Ivona text to speech function will be restored.

While the Google voice (at least on my MIUI v5 based on Android 4.1) is much better than it used to be, Ivona sounds less robotic to me (at least some of the voices).

Both have some way to go before being on par with Nuance Automotives voices used in Tomtom and Navigon, at least in terms of realism.

Whether you're happy with them depends on how fussy you are. I'm pretty fussy when it comes to TTS voices.

Not sure if this is the same voice but the newest Google nav voice.. Love it ;-)

Sometimes I put it on just going home from work :-P

newest google voice is fine. but why dont you move the phone to somewhere where you can quickly glance over at it, then you can have voice disabled.

i hate having the nav voice talking over my stereo:p
