Now this is interesting. I've been looking into humidity recently, especially in London where I live.

I'm no meteorologist by any stretch so I find it interesting that the humidity in London is always so high, which I didn't expect. Especially if you look at this chart from Wiki, you'll see that the high humidity in Greenwich [which is just down the road from me] rarely falls below a 90% even in Winter.

This chart shows a similar story from 2012 with the very lowest humidity being in late Summer at a low of about 47% and a low of 60% in Winter.

Must be something to do with being bang on the river. So are other parts of the country much drier or is it just the UK in general?

I notice it immensely on my relatively short commute between Kent and the West End. The humidity really does smack you in the face walking out of an air conditioned office, which doesn't happen where I live. When I lived in London though, I think I just acclimitised to it, so didn't notice.

We do get a lot of weather fronts colliding in the South of the UK so there is plenty of "weather" around. Gulf Stream meeting Northern colder air.

as for the Greenwich numbers. That is weird. Id hazard the sensor/apparatus is in a place that gets directly warmed and "extra" evaporation takes place.

I assume its at the Naval college / observatory area, its nice and grassy there as opposed to concrete.

All that sun warmed concrete and the inability for rain water to run off quickly deffo has an effect on the micro climate of London.

Is there humidity for Bristol or Plymouth ? hmm ill look if i get time.

Should go back to good ol' mud roads and grass pavements.
