Hi all.

When I bought my car, the alloys were in an absolutely dreadful state, paint was peeling and bubbling and they'd all suffered moderate to bad kerbing, as well as having terrible paint on the inside of the wheel.

With all of this, I decided a refurb was needed. So 3 days later and my wallet being £374.40 lighter, they looked like this (excuse the minor dirt, had to drive a few miles after washing):

Suffice to say I'm very happy :D They also replaced the center caps the the ///M stickers.

New wheel nuts are needed as the current ones look terrible, but will either be spraying current ones or a complete new set, am yet to decide.

Also need a wheel brush now so I can get in and clean the back parts of the wheel as it's all nice and silver now, add some more time to cleaning it! Lol.

Overall I'm very happy, would recommend their service to anyone who is in need of a refurb and doesn't want a half done job, they really know their stuff.

They did a great job on my M3 wheels a couple of years ago. I've done a great job at kerbing all 4 again, so will have to pay them another visit.

Very impressive, may well consider using them to remove the vile black paint on my alloys that the previous owner must have thought looked good after receiving severe brain damage.

Good job - it's a shame they're so far away as mine need doing also.

Sorry to the OP, I don't mean to be hijacking your thread.

Lepsons are meant to be very good.

As your based in Nuneaton I would thoroughly recommend A1 Wheel Renovations in Wolverhampton. I had my MK5 Golf GTi Monza IIs refurbished by them after loads of recommendations on the VW forums. These wheels are very difficult to refurb, mainly because they are painted and diamond cut. Lepsons, Exel wheels and a very few others are trusted in refurbing them.

They charged £300 for all 4 diamond cut and painted - back to OEM as I had asked. They gave me loan wheels and it took them 4 days to complete. Awesome guys (Nigel is the man to speak to if you have any technical queries). They did a fantastic job and I could barely tell them from the day I picked up my brand new car 8 yrs ago!

with regards to the wheel nuts, mine are the same, i noticed yesterday on ebay that you can buy wheel nut caps for about £15.

Thanks for the recommendation - I'll check them out. Loan wheels would be very useful also. My alloys are diamond cut too but I'll probably not get them diamond cut again for longevity reasons.

That was the idea I went with to A1, but after speaking to Nigel, he convinced me to get them diamond cut again. I know it means that the dreaded white worm will be back at some point, but as he said, some wheels are just meant to be Diamond Cut!

I tried some of those wheel nut covers, they look crap

I sprayed the wheel nuts in the end

Yeah I had a look at the covers, and they would have still left the locking nut exposed, and I'm not too keen on the look tbh.

How did you prep the nuts for spraying? Mine are quite rusted and don't want to just spray over the top as that could end up not being very durable.

Seems incredibly expensive to me for a simple coated wheel refurb, no diamond cut etc. What's the durability like?

The refurb itself was £312, which included having the tyres fitted and the wheel re-balanced, the remaining £60 odd was the cost of the new center caps and stickers. Yes that's a very large amount for what could otherwise have been done for £10 on eBay, but after paying all that cash to get the wheels perfect, would rather have them fit everything properly at the same time and use higher quality items.

VW charged me £8 per centre cap for a new one. I got two new ones, as two of the old ones were as good as new (not bad after 8 yrs of TLC!).

Bit of a thread bump.

I took my F11 5 series to Lepsons last week for all four wheels to be refurbed after three were damaged on high kerbs to stop ****** in a carpark near my work.

Left the car with them and had a call today to pick it up. It took three hours to get there with the accidents on the M25 and when I got there the wheels looked good, the colour match seemed perfect but the centre caps and M-Sport badges weren't fitted. I went around the car to put the centre caps in and none of them clipped into place, two were sticking out by 4mm and the other two were proud instead of flush. They offered me 10% off to take it or they said they would scrape the paint out from the inside so the caps fit (they obviously put more paint on then OEM). This now has me concerned that if they scrape though the lacquer it wont be long before the rest of the lacquer will blow. I am a pretty disappointed TBH and will be taking the centre caps back out when I am there to see what has been done.

Has anyone here had anything similar?

Thought I'd better update this thread.

My wheel centres were cleaned out and the centre caps now fit perfectly. Took an extra day and a load more travelling but the finish is good. I'm just pleased I took the car there to have the wheels done otherwise that would have been a nightmare having to post them back to them.

Sounds like a good result in the end :) How did they clean out the wheel centers? No chance of anything getting under the paint from in there?

A small update to mine, 3/4 have now been kerbed/damaged since getting them done. Cba to do them again as the damage isn't that bad on two of them so will just get it done before selling.

TBH I didn't take the centres out to have a look. The receipt was amended to show that they had to do the extra work to make the centre caps fit. They said that they had to clean them right back out and then repaint and re-lacquer the insides. Time will tell if they start pealing or delaminating. I will update here if I have any issues.
