Hi guys if your from my neck of the woods, county durham. Could you please look this over sign and share if you agree or it effects you.
It is for the council to either give people with larger fammilys a larger bin or collect everyones rubish weekly not fortnightly.

https://www.change.org/en-GB/petiti...arger-size-waste-bin-from-six-to-five-people#

Getting a bit hacked off with jamming my waste into the bin for the lid not to close and dealing with maggots! blerk!

Maybe it's worth editing your post to include what the petition is about?

Doesn't affect me due to numbers really, and given the massive battle with beurocratic incompetence and downright lies that I've recently had in order to obtain a glass recycling bin from said council, I highly doubt a petition will do anything useful.

All you have to do is open the link to find out lol. I will change the post though

And might i add with that kind of defeatist attitude no i wont get anywere, but lets hope more people are a bit more optimistic, the lady on the end of the phone at the council said if i get enough they will have to listen. Thats a good enough start for me ;)

Durham County Council already offers larger or second bins to larger households with a genuine need for them, so I don't see what the point of this is?

Personally I like our system and it works a lot better than what we had before. I hardly ever fill my "general waste" bin over the two week collection period and that's with me and my lodger, plus partner and between us three kids who are here a couple of weekends a month.

Like dfarrall says, maybe you need to look at what goes in your bin?

Also lol to your petition - I have never once had a fly / maggot problem with my bin.

This. Recycle more.

You do put your garden waste in the brown bin, your paper/card/metal waste in the blue bin, and your glass waste in the green box right?

Right??

I do it all properly im not an idiot tyvm lol. We get through a fair bit of crap, 5 people one of whom still in nappies, a dog, a wife that bakes from home its always full or im unable to close the lid.

I've asked for a bigger bin and been told no, i also asked if i could buy one and the reponce i got was also no (unsure if i had a moron on the end of the phone or not like)

With regards the delightfull maggots, the flys smell a bit of meat or leftover food and if the lids slightly ajar they get in and do there thing, the heat helps them along massively, i never get that problem come winter time.

I dont need lecutres off people i either need a sig if you agree, or not if you disagree its pretty simple -_-

Nothing stops you buying another bin but considering with the different recycling bins you have far more capacity than you ever had before it is more likely that you are simply not recycling efficiently enough. Actual genuine trash is a fairly small part of an average households refuse, one you subtract glass, plastics, paper, card, textiles, organic, metals, etc. you end up with very little (bits of polystyrene and things).

Sounds like your wife is running some kind of catering service form home - you will need to inquire about having commercial waste disposal.

Right??

We don't have that in Darlington. Which will be the same I guess as co Durham.
We have a green Box for glass. and a blue bag for paper. Everything else going in the bin. I would love a bin for our garden waste, as we can't bin our grass and have to take it to the tip.
I have 3 kids and we get on fine with the smaller bin. I just put a bin bag on the top of the rubbish bags and jump on it lol.

Darlo is different as you have your own borough council.

The rest of Co.Durham uses the three bin one box system.

Which reminds me, its garden waste collection tomorrow.
