This was inspired by the Syria threads. Do you realise a lot of our news is lies, faked, scripted and staged?

News is scripted!! WHAT!?

I thought the autocues were just there for a laugh. I never thought they actually use them.
 
Our news will be simplified, summarised, misinformed and occasionally fabricated. A moments thought shows that to be the case, without resorting to crackpots on youtube.

I feel it's worth pointing out that while "lies/faked" is an understandable description, "scripted/staged" really isn't. The news is "scripted", i.e. written by someone, and then "staged", i.e. communicated to other people. That's not a big surprise. Of course it's been written by someone.

Did you even watch any of the videos or did you just want to be a crap comedian? You watched all those videos in 6 minutes? You obviously came to your insulting conclusion that I am a tin foil hatter without watching the videos. I hope you are not a lawyer. You cannot debunk those videos. They prove our news is often faked.

Sure - but that's not exactly a shock is it. Truth is subjective at the best of times. The perception of truth available to the news service rather incomplete.

You're being mocked because it looks like you attribute this to a secret and all powerful governing body which is capable of skilfully manipulating the minds of the nation. Which is a daft standpoint.

edit: uh... I don't think we're on the same page regarding what "staged" means. I think it's like a theatre, people doing roughly what they were told to in order to tell a story. What do you believe "staged" means?

If it's not centrally scripted how did all these local news US stations report gas price increases in precisely the same way?

Well, in Britain, one reporter writes a story, and it ends up in lots of newspapers. Incorrect numbers tend to turn up in all of them as a result. So I'd guess one person looked up some information about gas price increases and then multiple news stations reported on the same story.

Yes but they did not just report on the same story. They all worded it the same way.

In all seriouness though I've noticed it a lot with the Egypt stuff as I know people out there, whats being reported in the news here about it is almost completely removed from reality.

Just look at them. It's obvious they have somebody telling them what to do in order to tell a false story. They are getting into certain positions then holding that position. A few photos are took for the world press then they move onto to the next staged photo shot. In this video people are pretending to be injured. People are pretending to be rioting. Photos from this video ended up in UK newspapers as real news. This video is pure theatre. They are being told what to do.
