MSI or HIS 7950?

Hello.

I was all set to buy the MSI 7950 Twin Fozr III, then I saw the HIS come up in this week only.
Which is the better card? I've had a look at some reviews. Seems the MSI can clock higher, but not by much. The MSI is thinner, but that'll only really come into play if crossfiring, which I'm not planning on doing.
Do both dump heat into the case? I've read mixed reports and not sure if the HIS is designed to pull cool air from outside, or dump hot air outside?

Really just after a general consensus. I'm assuming the never settle bundle is also included as well as the new gold pack?

Thanks

I have the MSI 7950 Twin Fozr III BE and its a great card. Very Happy with it. If I was buying for the first time again I would probably go for the HIS one only because it dumps hot air out of the case and the MSI one does not. This would help a little in case temps I feel.

The msi twin frozr ones will probably clock slightly higher but the his ice-q's have the better and quieter cooling solution, which is ideal for air cooling on crossfire.

Hi Drizmod

What power connections are in your MSI? Is it a 6 and 8 pin or just to 6 pins? The MSI's seem to come with either, bit of a lottery.
HIS dumping air out the case would definitely help. I do notice it is slightly longer by about an inch.
Just really torn as they both look great.

I'd probably opt for the MSI TF...

If the IceQ's were in Xfire in slot 1 and slot 2 wouldn't they coolide due to the bigger cooler section at the back?

They fit fine on my p8p67 deluxe with a decent amount of space between them so they can breathe and operate at identical temps.

Hmmmm, I'm not going to be crossfiring I can pretty much gurantee that.
The MSI does seem sleeker. How much of a difference to case temps does the HIS cooling solution make? I currently run one radiator for my CPU so heat isn't a majo issue, but a few degrees cooler in the case always helps.

If i was going single card id probably go for the msi card. That said the msi card will dump all its heat in the case so if this is a problem go with the his card which will dump 99% of its heat out the rear of your case.

Used both, sent the TFIII back the coolers are screamers in comparison to the relatively quiet Ice-Q that vents all it's waste heat.

The Msi has better clocking vram though.

Argh!! Decisions, decisions. May have ot just toss a coin. Just seen Gibbo's write up on the HIS one. Do I want a bit more overclocking headroom for maybe 2/3 frames difference, or do I want all the heat dumped out the case but with a big weird looking cooler taking up space in my case? :)

HIS all the way on this one, the cooler is simply quieter and works much better in Crossfire and much smaller cases as its design means it exhaust nearly all the heat expelled by the graphics card.

Both are superb though! :)

Sold!! The mrs will be delighted :)

Ooh, just to confirm, does it come with the never settle bundle as well as the new gold bundle?

His is GOLD ONLY sorry.

The old games bundles are nearly out now, does make the MSI great value as technically your getting twice as many games and can save your Gold Ticket until AMD release some newer games, cough BF4. :D

Mine are two 6 pin. I think this is on a 7950 PCB wheras the 6 and 8 pin are on a 7970 PCB. I did OC my card for a bit (1150, 1500) but reverted back to stock as all the games I am playing hit constant 60fps so did not need the OC

Well, I went with the HIS in the end.
Thanks for the input folks.
Now I just need to try and get the wife to go away for the weekend :)

I got the MSI 7950 OC BE as an upgrade to my old Sapphire HD 4870, it's louder, but I don't regret it as the difference in games (well, ok, I only play BF3) is huge! :)
