Rolf Harris arrested on sexual charges

I wonder is the claim even child related, or is it adult related?
I recall the DLT claim was hat he felt some womans boobs while she read the news on the radio back in the 70s, wasnt it?
40 years later that gets him arrested etc. the world was a different place then. No doubt we shall hear more at things progress, hopefully Rolf did nothing wrong, hopefully it has nothing to do with children.

By all means hunt out the real paedophiles, but this singling out of dead/dying DJs and other types of celebs is getting ridiculous. The more claims coming in, the less I believe in them. Knee jerk reaction much?

I've been always thinking this for rape cases all along, the counter argument never washes with me.

The only counter argument I've ever seen suggested was that "naming them encourages other victims to come forwards".

As silly as it is, the general populace loves a good witch-hunt.

That's the one...But when a rape case comes to court other cases arn't taken into consideration(?) And each have to be tried individually. Hence that's why it doesn't wash.

Yes, but what if, for example, Rolf was your baby sitter? Wouldn't you want to know? Also he has been arrested twice and now charged so there must be a case to answer.

It's not for the police to determine guilt though. That's the job of a court. I have no idea whether Rolf Harris is innocent or guilty. So for now he is currently "innocent" and may well be genuinely innocent. How would any of us like our names in the media if we were innocent.

having a case to answer and being guilty are very different things.

I agree in regards witchhunts!

Also as someone said, the world was genuinely a slightly different place from my understanding anyway. :p

I think more needs to come to light (AFTER they have been charged) as to the mavity of the offence. Because if it involved touching a womans boob 30 years ago and they made no complaint til 2013, then its a bit of a non story!

No, if you are a suspect they must arrest you so that they can interview you under caution.

In a lot of cases it's more of a formality; being arrested doesn't have to mean being wrestled to the ground and handcuffed. Notice in the BBC story that Rolf attended the police station by prior appointment (which is far more common than people realise).

So Incorrect!! You do not have to be arrested to be interviewed under caution
Generally having an interview with no arrest is seen as a positive (ie the CPS cant really see the case going anywhere at the present stage).

You can of course be arrested and reinterviewed at a later date should new evidence come to light etc.

The CPS will charge someone if they feel they have a 51% of conviction in the courts. Its not exactly a 'oh this person is 100% guilty' situation here and given that he hasnt even be charged I feel some of the comments here lack a little real world perspective!

Agreed. Unfortunately there are people here that have the opinion - "just because they got found not guilty doesn't mean they are innocent"

Principles of English Law and retrospective accusations.

Ok,

I don't believe that Rolf did anything wrong. In fact if you charged everyone who was guilty of similar crimes from the 60's on over half the bands and support staff and a lot of other entertainers would be in the same boat.

Cast not the first stone!

The media are guilty of creating a culture of guilty before proof. Not Innocent until proven guilty as it IS in LAW.

The rights of the individual have been ignored and this is a form of social rape.

Newspaper speculation is in a lot of cases neither factual or provable, its all about money; just as the accusations are in some cases. (He's rich maybe I can get some by stirring it!).

I don't think for an instant that Saville should be allowed to go un-investigated but I do believe in the individuals right to justice, and public pillory through the press is not Justice.

Computers are great. If you don't like what they're doing you can unplug them. When you re start them they behave as before with no memory of what happened.

In this situation the mud sticks even if it's not justified.

Support Rolf. Don't be one of the sheep that have been programmed by the Press.

Have good day and think on the agony this guy is going through.
