Hi All,

Ok, so I purchased the MSI Z87-G45 Mobo plus TeamGroup Xtreem LV 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-21300C11 2666MHz Dual Channel kit. Unfortunately I cannot get the RAM into slot 1 due to the RAM hitting the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler...

So I have put the RAM in slots 3 & 4 but have just noticed in the BIOS it is showing as only being 1333MHz??

The manual is pants (for a non-techie) and none of the URL links work that allegedly provide more info.

Can I just try plugging the RAM sticks in dif combinations and see if I can get the full 2666MHz speed? Has anyone with this Mobo got any ideas why this is happening? Or what slots to put the RAM in to get the full speed?

I can do any combination of slots 2/3/4 but slot 1 will not work with the CPU cooler...

Thanks in advance for any help / suggestions.

Load the XMP profile for the RAM, the board should then read the data on the RAM and set the speed and timings correctly for you.

Thanks guys, I'll try 2 & 4 and see if that works first, then I'll try the more technical suggestion (that I don't fully understand lol) second!!

OK, tried slots 2 & 4 - which now that I understand some of the terminology better seems to be what the pants manual instructs you to do - but it is still showing as 1333MHz.

Stulid (or anyone else) where can I find the XMP profile? I have searched through all the options in the MSI bios settings and cannot see any way to 'up the speed' so to speak.

Thanks as always for any help chaps.

Firstly can you download CPU-Z and look at this tab,

The bit I circled shows the RAM speed, but remember its double data rate so is in my case 1066.7 x2 = 2133Mhz
