Hi all would really love some help. I had to take my pc in to have a new psu put in last week (600w for a new corsair gs 800) and since I have had my pc back today I am getting awful fps in games. I know the two shouldn't be related but cant think of any other explanation as I have always held a steady 60 fps on bf3 and now struggle for 50 with drops down to 30. All my drivers are up to date and the shop say they didn't touch anything else other than swapping the psu and cable management. Also even when I change graphic settings to medium I still get huge drops.

Could my gpu be on its way out?
I have a gtx 670 running with an overclocked i5 2500k and 8g of ram. Its never been any problem before.
Thanks in advance.

Do you see any drops in the graphs ( like power or GPU clock ) in MSI afterburner or precision X or whatever you use to monitor usage and temps.

Also check nvidia control panel and set to performance incase the shop people lied ( shock horror ).

Make sure vsync is disabled. Also multiplayer maps with lots of people is quite CPU demanding...if you i5 2500K is at stock it would give the best performance, you need to overclock it.

tried all of the above and nothing. Temps are all ok and my cpu is till overclocked as it was before. I never had these issues before so I know my pc is able to run games smoothly. Also when I turned off vsync I was hitting 70 to 80 fps but dropping down to 30 and 40 (my screen is 60 hz).

Seriously don't know what to do. I have gone into nvidia 3d settings and restored them all and tweeked them and put them to performance and nothing.

You say you recently got a new PSU?

Have you checked physically if all the cables etc are connected properly?

You could even try reseating the card and checking the power connectors.

If that doesnt work, uninstall driver and reinstall with clean option.

If that doesnt work, you could try reinstalling windows...

And if that doesnt work... then it could be the PSU.

highly doubt its the PSU else your system or gpu may not power at all.

Id get something like GPU-Z and check what bus speed your 670 is running at (try checking this while running heaven benchmark so you can see the actual bus speed while at full power) It sounds more like a pci-e speed issue ie: pci 1 @ 1x rather than full speed which should depending on motherboard upto x16

What about that occt psu test thing to see if the psu u got is ok? How are benchmarks like heaven do they output the same score as before if u did it before the psu swap? New psu new problems, maybe the pci-e cables arnt in properly or are damaged, if u have others i.e modular psu can u try them unless u have other ones on a non modular one u can try. Is all the other cables connected ok like mb 24pin one etc and the 4pin one or 8 pin duno which u use. As stated previously is the card in ok, it hasnt come out a bit has it. Check occt see how ur psu is with the readout see if its lacking somewhere or somit?

Can you monitor your core speed when gaming to make sure it's not throttling?

I recall reading some people are having some issues with the boost feature, and need high power limit or voltage for the card to stop the throttling or something

Also sometimes when I try and boot up my pc the monitor goes blank and says no input and something about d-sub. Then windows fails to load.
I have since unplugged the vidio card and plugged it back in again. This seems to have resolved the issue.

Moral of the story. Dont send the comp to a shop to get a psu fitted when u can do it yourself really and save the money at the same time as well as know if somit goes balls up its ur fault and would know where the fault would be. :)
