Vodafone to Three (happy happy)

Then why does it only ever do it on voda and not sims from other networks. Other networks, what it states is generally what you get. With a voda sim it always massively over estimated.

The signal in terms of actual reception quality is as indicated I think what your referring to is what I'm experiencing where it will say you've got full bars but the actual service quality isn't that great - with intermittent data issues, varied voice quality, etc.

Yeah, best thing ever leaving voda. When I first got it was brilliant getting 3G everywhere. Then waiting for web pages to load and running speed tests and hearing the phone calls soon showed it was a scam.
If the phone shows say 4 bars you get robotic voices, if it has 1 bar you get squat. 3G you'll get several hundred Kb, if it says GPRS you'll get squat. Not that it hardly ever said it had GPRS, nearly everywhere it said it had a 3G connection, even when it didn't.
No other sim does that, others might flick between 1 bar and no signal, but voda consistently massively overestimates so you go yeah I have 3G everywhere, but lucky to get more than a few hundred kbs.

I'll be bailing out of voda too, my PAC expires on the 10th sept, so I'll see what the note 3 is like if not S4 or htc one.
I don't know if it's possible, but their signal seems to be deteriorating over the last year or so?
I know its pants in our house and slightly better outside(used to be quite OK inside), but you check their coverage and it's allegedly 100% here - not

And if Three's customer service is anywhere near as tardtastic as voda's, they'll be trying hard to do so

I have always found 3 to have very good signal with no complaints and it not because I live in a big city and as for the customer service i have nothing but good things to say about them

Just in the process of moving to the One plan sim only by three. The sim took a day to activate and I have made an online request to transfer my existing number. For £5 a month more than giffgaff I get 2000 mins and unlimited data.

I moved to Voda and my GF to 3 around 18 months ago (both were on orange before).

Suffice to say after travelling around much of the UK together and consistently finding she has a strong H signal whilst I'm getting 2g (and this is including many rural areas) I'll be jumping ship shortly.

Assume that Voda just havnt bothered spending money on their infrastructure whilst others have which given the premium you seem to pay to use their service is just laughable.

Three are great until something goes wrong and then you will bang your head against the wall trying to deal with their heavily scripted offshore customer 'service'.

They also only offer 3G so getting 'no service' is more common than the other networks.

There is a reason they are so cheap IMO.

Just left t-mobile for three 2 days ago!

Man on the phone tried to convince me to go 4G, whilst I just wanted unlimited data, which he could not offer.
Also VOIP is sometimes useful to have, especially as I sometimes need to call abroad.

Woman from cancellations tried telling me that I only use 500MB a month, when 4 days a week I stream videos from youtube in HQ and when going on business trips I stream Virgin Media all the time.

Got my PAC, and just now waiting for my number transfer to go through.

Great customer service so far, and great prices!!

Was paying 32 a month for 600mins 500texts "unlimited web surfing"
Now paying 31 a month for 500 mins 5000 texts All-you-can-eat data and 2000 three to three minutes (got an iphone 5 for that)
Also made my missus sim only, 9.90 a month for I think similar to the above!

I left Vodafone for 3 last year. They didn't even bother trying to get me to stay even after 6 years with them.

So far signal has been quite good, but not great in my house or at work - enough to make and receive calls fine though. I personally wouldn't consider another network when I'm getting the One Plan for £33 a month right now.

Looking forward to no extra cost LTE when they roll it out in December!

Three also bought 800mhz 4g bandwidth which should improve building penetration.

If you read around it may seem they only boughta limited amount of spectrum but I believe they bought at two different times and have a slice at low, middle and higher frequency.

Yeh vodafone couldn't understand why I was baffled that they wouldn't offer me ANY discount off a 4g price plan having been with them ten years.

Add my 2p
I look after the mobile bills in our house hold me wife daughter and have pretty much had the lot T Mobile Orange O2 Voda
up until about 6 months ago
I had Voda
wife on Orange
daughter O2

must add non of them are very good with all 3 in my house location giving very poor speeds with Orange being slightly quicker than the other 2 but still all 3 of them are woeful

then 6 months ago my daughters boyfriend was here telling me how much better Three are in our town so I speed tested his phone and to be honest I was shocked at how much faster it was
all the others will not ever download faster than 3mb yet his three contract gave 10-14mb downloads every time so I decided to get the 30 day £12.99 a month contract and it is so good that I have swapped my daughters phone from O2 over to the same contract
and on 10 October my wifes Orange contract is up and unless they match it I will be swapping my wife over to this contract as well
in my Town Three speeds blow the others into oblivion with the 3g internet browsing speeds

must also add I have no idea what the customer service is like with three as I have never had to use the support network but like most phone companys I would imagine they suck
but not having had any problems I can say only good things about three

Been listening to music from my Mahoosive (100Gb+) collection on Google Play today and I'm not worried about using all my Data Package!! :D

Not had a single hic-up or stutter!! Smooth playback just like it was stored local (my Nexus 4 only has 16Gb... and only 5Gb of that is currently free!!).

Just waiting for my Number to move over from VodaClone today and I'll be a very happy bunny!! :D

How does that usually work? I have submitted the PAC and number I want to change over the weekend to three via the form, but haven't heard anything from them? Did they contact you to say it will be done today? I submitted it on Saturday!

Apart from a few months on PAYG trying out the Tesco network a few years ago, I've been on Vodafone either PAYG or contract for the best part of 15 years. The main reason I've stuck with them that long is because the actual call signal coverage is very good - I've never been anywhere in the UK and not been able to pick up a usable signal.

However, we're now in the smartphone age and I'm sick and tired of having my iPhone - and the Galaxy that preceded it - neutered by a complete absence of a Vodafone 3G signal, unless you happen to live within a four mile radius of the centre of Cambridge. We live in a village about five miles outside the outskirts of Cambridge and there's practically nothing - the iPhone's display shows a consistent 'o'. Very occasionally one of us might get an 'E' showing, but if you happen to be walking about, it disappears just as quickly.

Compare that with my sister-in-law and her fiance - they're both on 3, live out in the arse-end of the Fens in Manea and have both a strong phone signal and usable 3G on her iP5 and his S3. We were on holiday with them recently on the Norfolk Broads and again, they got 3G and we got nothing.

I naively thought there wouldn't be that much difference between networks, but that holiday was eye-opening and was the catalyst for me deciding to move from Vodafone to 3 - the only PITA from my point of view is that I've now got to wait until November 21st 2014 until I can do so. At least in that time hopefully 3 can get their 4G service properly established ... they seem to offer the best coverage for 3G, so I'd expect them to do a similar job with 4G.

Yeah!.

I submitted the 'form' (I did it through the Android App as their website was/is still messing me about!!) on Friday, about 30 minutes after my SIM went live, and about 2 hours later I received both a Text and Email telling me 'Thank You for submitting your Form to move you old number... blah blah..' and then about 30 minutes later another Text to tell me it will be done Monday 2nd (today).

Then today I've received yet another Text telling me it will be done by This Evening, and I need to re-boot my phone for it to take effect!

3 certainly like sending random texts to you!!! I've received at least 20+ texts from them since Saturday!! all Technical/support based, no Spam!, but not anything I don't already know type texts! :D

£31 for 4gb a month! I do wonder why people stay with crappy contract providers when there are company's like giffgaff... No contract and £12 a month for 250 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited data... Absolutely bargain and better than most around..

I left three for giffgaff about 3 months ago and the only thing I regret is not doing it sooner! Three customer service are a joke always Indian call centers who never seem to understand what you are going on about! Plus three ripped me off one month I wont go into detail about that...

But 100% recommend giffgaff if anyone is looking to switch.. Its also run by the community as well.

Damn, I only got the text saying thank you for requesting to move your number to three (today). Mine went live on Saturday though, so maybe they will hopefully do it tomorrow?

Giffgaff are great for everything apart from 3G in my experience. Both coverage and speeds.

I have just done the reverse of you and switched from GiffGaff to 3 for that reason and I'm very happy so far.

If the 3G meets your requirements, then I couldn't recommend GiffGaff more. For me the extra 90p on 3's rolling 1-month contract was worth it, I'll take my chances with customer service

Guess it all depends on your area I suppose.. I get great 3g speeds where I am.. I got the same for three as well but hey ho whatever floats your boat :)
