Business Style Laptop?!?

Hey,

So I'm after grabbing myself a business style laptop for my new job, which they've given me the ability to choose thankfully rather than their 17" variant, and I'm seriously struggling.

At my current job I've got a fully loaded Dell Latitude E6520 (superseded now by the E6530) with i7, 16gb RAM, SSD etc all in a 15.6" package.

I'm trying to replicate that as best as possible especially since this is going to be my mobile workstation.

Anybody got any suggestions on manufactures that fit the following (I appreciate that its a tough call especially with the requirements that I've got):

No bigger than a 15.6"
At least 16gb of RAM
i7 with hyperthreading
Must be able to take two drives (boot will be a 256gb SSD and the secondary storage at 500gb SSHD or normal drive)
Not really worried about graphics as its going to be used for business documents, virtualisation, testing tools (security) etc (the company standard offers a NVidia 600/700 series rather than Intel or AMD)
Good battery that will last 3 hours
A next day onsite warranty service for at least 3 years (if I'm gunna slam down my own money on it, I need it back up and running ASAP due to work commitments).

Software I'm not worried about as I'll just purchase Windows 7 Pro and Microsoft Office 2013 separately, again part of the condition.

So far I've looked at the E6530 from Dell as well as the W530 from Lenovo and they're coming out at over 2k a pop!!

Any help would be appreciated as I'm going round the twist :(
From that you can tell what kinda thing I'm looking for, as their base is 17" from a competitor of OCUK :(

Budget wise, probably about £2,000 for the whole thing including licensing so £1,700 for the base

Thanks for that Daver :) :)

Just gave them a call and got another £100 chopped off the price for a fully loaded M4700 with 16gb, mSATA (boot) and secondary drive, bluetooth, wireless advanced, 1080p screen, upgraded battery and 5 years onsite/next day warranty. Expensive at £2,236 but better than I was expecting :D

Cheers mjones :)

Having looked at the Lenovo's in more depth, its a shame that they've decided to remove the typical "enter/return" key with one designed more like a shift key :( Based on that, they're out of the loop as I prefer a big key for enter/return rather than something that more often than not I'm going to miss :)

So now back to Dell with either the Precision M4700 (which weighs an absolute tonne!! ) or a Latitude which I have at the moment.

Oh the choices :D

I doubt that Lenovo have done that. They are probably using stock photos showing the US keyboard. Are you sure?

The T530 seems ideal given your requirements, or the T430 (which has an inferior screen quality) which can get superb battery life with the 9 cell and spare battery in the ultrabay.

I'm not exactly sure whether they're just stock images but I've looked around a few places looking at the T530 in the UK and they're all showing the same keyboard :(

I'm gunna give Lenovo a call/email to see whether it is infact true that they've played with the keyboard

The T530/W530 were the ones that I wanted but the keyboard is a breaker

Ive got a e6530 which I really like,

i7, 16gb ram, 256 ssd and 1tb HDD. runnings pretty much anything I can throw at it.

Cheers territt! :)

Think I'm gunna stick with what I know and just get a fully loaded Latitude. Ticks all the boxes, apart from the terrible NVidia Graphics, but then its not for gaming. And even when it does, its for COH which is more processor dependant than anything else :)

The Precision was looking good with the ATi card instead of NVidia but then it'll suck battery life and its another half a kilo on my back :(

Thanks to all that replied :)
