Got a GT 240 in my kids/other half's PC and although it's only been used to play World of Warcraft, it played it pretty well on medium settings @ 1920 x 1080 resolution. I originally chose this ahead of a 4670 as performance was meant to be similar to an 8800GT.

Thats because WOW is more CPU dependent.

WOW is far more graphically intensive than people assume, the CPU only gets bogged down when hundreds of people are standing around in one city or in a raid when damage/healing calculations are taking place. I could only run it on high with my 6870 out in MOP areas with a few settings dropped down (shadows and water one ones I remember), putting anything on Ultra had a big affect on my FPS which means it's not entirely CPU dependent at all - it requires good items in both areas to max it for sure. Both systems had Sandybridge CPUs at the time too so shouldn't of been bottlenecked out in the world where there were only a handful of people about.

Anyway enough thread derailing. I would still choose the GT 240.
