Ultimately if you cannot abide by the rules for whatever reason - even simple human error or forgetfullness - you shouldn't really be using the forum without expecting moderator intervention. On most of the forum a little discretion is used, however when it comes to the MM where money is changing hands a misleading post can have much more serious consequences. It's the same when it comes to competition between threads getting out of hand due to uncontrolled bumping.

Think of it like driving a car. If you forget to indicate I'm sure it would be understood by a police officer that there was no malicious intent, but this doesn't necessarily change anything. The law would still apply to you to protect the safety of yourself and others due to the environment you are in.

Too long, didn't read: Stick to the rules or expect mega slaps in the MM :p

Oh and in answer to your question about moderation. None of it is automated - we really are that sad.

I meant the op, but Maccapacca seems to know a bit too much about my history on Baywatch which makes me uncomfortable.

OK so I'm just recovering from being banned on here, for allegedly bumping a thread. I did no such thing but maybe posted twice in a row without editing my first post.

A quick question, as I know OCUK don't like being quizzed over infractions. Is the banning system automated? I mean, if I accidentally posted twice in quick succession in the wrong forum should I not at least have a chance to say sorry and remove my post?

Andi.

I had the same thing on the MM. I sent one of the admins an email and they quickly removed the infraction.

So no opportunity to say sorry and learn, no forgiveness for minor transgressions. My second post was not going to disrupt any financial transactions. This is feeling more like a Judge Dredd situation than a family friendly and extremely useful forum.

I take the point of the MM being special due to the financial transactions involved and bumping being banned but with a bit of care and attention to detail my thread was not a bump in it's true meaning in this case.

Isn't there meant to be an infactions tab on your profile Andi? You rack up so many points, then it's a ban if you exceed 10 points or something? That's the way you learn as I think the Dons will state the reason why you've been given points. Then again, I was suspended for 2 days earlier this year when I posted in a thread that got deleted but I have nothing showing up on my infactions.

Interesting, I couldn't get to the forum to Trust a message to a moderator, my only option would have been a web note which is to the shop isn't it?

Yes there is but I have zero points and no sign of this last penalty so it's obviously seen as a 'special' punishment.

Care should be taken here though as business could be affected I was looking for something over the weekend and without the help of the OCUK forum I had to look elsewhere. having used another forum I felt the need to support them.

Read the FAQ. The email addresses for mods are in there. So as long as you log out, you should still have seen them.
