Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [31 August - 01 September 2013]

gutted about capoue. hope he's not out for long, very good player.

i notice someone said the games today were boring? the second half of the spurs arsenal game was great. end to end with pace and some great midfield battles.

again, obvious we need to get service to soldado but arsenal shut us out very well around the area. good game imo.

Today was such a depressing game. Moyes will invite pressure onto himself and quickly lose the fans if he insists on making such nonsensical decisions. To be fair, SAF was a repeat offender too but he had become untouchable by then.

I truly can't understand how Giggs is allowed to saunter around the pitch like he hasn't a care in the world, attempting the type of casual and ridiculous flicks and "passes" you might see a dad try in the garden with his toddler. And what's most amazing - nothing is said. No single player, no commentator will address this.

Then there's Jones. Is this guy a magician? Has he cast a spell over TPTB? He's like a huge bumbling puppy, running around into things and making a mess. To think fabio can't even make the bench is crazy.

As for Valencia, it almost offends me to see the guy pick up a wage as a pro footballer. Never have I seen such an awkward and one sided a player take to the pitch. Just what exactly he has been doing in training all these years I am fascinated to know. Because technically he's worst than me.

As for Young, he simply doesn't do anything. Team mates seem to recognise this, they seldom pass to him.

The four best players in pre-season were Zaha, Lingard, januzaj and Fabio. The fact they cant get a game over that dross is bizarre.

I didnt watch the game but i read Moyes was saying that it was the best we have played all season?!

.....well that is pretty ****ing worrying if whilst playing at our best, we lost to Liverpool!

Same as every season then on here. United drop points at the start of the season and the the world is about to end. Only for them to win the league and the same constant negative whingers get to post 'get in my son'.

This kind of start is hardly anything new. Thanks God Ocuk wasn't around when Fergie took the job. All those suicides...

I actually agree with everything you've just said. Moyes has inherited the Utd system. Great wingers, great finishers. Sadly, your wingers are not even good and the system should move on. Januzaj and Kagawa are more of a new breed of CAM rather than wingers or central midfielders. I'd argue that that's where Welbeck and possibly Rooney will end up too. If you're going to advance as a club, you either needed to be in for Bale or Lamela, or change to a 4231 with Carrick and Fellaini, allowing three of Januzaj, Rooney, Welbeck, Zaha, and Kagawa to roam in front of them, and RvP or Hernandez finishing the chances.

It suits your current crop of players far better than the traditional wide system.

:(

Been saying this week in week out for over a year as they have been apparent flaws for a long time, It's pathetic.

Moyes looks like the worst signing of the summer.

Double leg break according to rumours.

If true then that injury would far outweigh the result, from £100m+ worth of signing's the cheapest one has looked the best.

Criticised his players again, attacked the National teams for having to use his players and finally went home and burnt his pizza.

Thankfully for the Sunderland fans he's Italian so he'll probably be popping the brown envelopes in the post as I type.

There were 5 players in that Spurs team who played for us last season.

Where as Arsenal had players darting all over the place and hungry to receive the ball, our players didn't know what to do and were static. A pretty woeful display.

Despite that we only lost by a single goal and the team can only really be judged when they look like something remotely resembling a unit. At present they were a bunch of players afraid to lose and ignorant of what their team mates wanted/could do.

As someone said on another blog, we have purchased some fine ingredients from Harrods, now we need to master chef to create a tasty cake!

News just in that Capoue hasn't got a double fracture as first thought and should only be out for a month.

Thank goodness for that, he looks a class player and would have been a massive blow to him if it had been a break.
