Opinions on new MacBook Air

because I think people are assessing it by the way a PC rather than a Mac uses the memory it has.

No problem. I've been told the offers been extended to over the initial 100 units.

In my experience (I've ordered from SpencerMann before) it'll be with you within a week.

Cool..I just had to call play.com to verify my order for some reason, never had to do that before..but everything seems to be ok. Amazing saving on a macbook air though.
 
Ok I caved in and bought one. It's a bit of an impulse buy but I can always sell it on for similar money if I find it's not suitable.

I got an email saying that my order had been delayed then declined. Is that what you guys have had? Just tried it again...

Keep on trying... it'll go through eventually. Once you've ordered call Play.com customer services on 0845 800 1020 and quote your order number.

I've also had this issue before.

Just been off the phone with Play for security checks. They said that SpencerMann sends stuff by courier so we will get a tracking number. Seemed to have heard of him before, so I guess its ok.

EDIT: Just got the decline stuff as well...

Mine was initially declined but then I got an automated call from my bank. After pressing a few buttons to confirm it was a genuine payment I re-ordered and all seems good so far. I've not had email confirmation yet though. So fingers crossed.

Not sure whether to sell my C2D Macbook Pro 13 to recover some funds or let my wife keep it.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good MBA dock? I already have the necessary active mini DP to dual-link DVI for my external monitor and a spare keyboard so just need a dock to hook it up neatly.

Henge docks always seem to get good reviews. :-)
 
I haven't had any emails saying declined, only one asking me to call play.com customer services. Just checked the status and it has changed from Processing to Processing in Warehouse.

Edit: Status has just changed to Dispatched.....

Sounds like its gone through as the guy on the phone said it should change to that.

Ordered one again, haven't got an email to say to contact them, but no doubt will.

Called the clown at Play.com and she thinks it's because 'the back three digits on the back of the card were entered incorrectly'. Well they weren't, just tried a different credit card and the status of that order is 'Verify order'. :(
 
Seems you have to jump through hoops to get this!

Off the phone again, person was very nice mind you. Payment is still waiting to be authorised, so if it doesn't go through this time, I'll give the bank a call to tell them to back off!
 
It could be dependant on your bank and how you use the account..if you are spending £700+ regularly then your bank isn't going to question it, but if you do not and given the nature of the item, they probably will.
 
Check your outstanding orders or order history to see if its turned to "Declined".

Thanks but I don't think I'm going to be able to get this sorted any time soon. It appears to have been declined by my bank due to being an unusual purchase. I've tried calling my bank and can get through to the usual Phonebank team fine. But when they pass me on to the credit card team I fail their validation because I've not called them in at least 5 years and don't know what my security password is :D Apparently I need to get to a branch to reset my password.

I could pay with a debit card but I always use a credit card for such large transacitons with unknown (to me) companies because of the extra protection it gives.

I'll try again shortly but I think I'm going to miss this one.

I can't complain though - my bank is doing the right thing and I'd rather have a vigilant bank that caused slight difficulties than be easy to defraud.
