Outside the grounds on deadline day is really an excellent opportunity for the government to round up all the inbreds and nutters that need to be shipped off.

If Mata does move to PSG, that could pave the way for Javier Pastore to leave the French champions - he was booed by his own fans on Saturday.

Read that on the DM. Why was Pastore booed? He'd be a great signing for a PL club.

I don't think the move will Mataerialise

:D Slick.

I hope he isn't sold. He's a fantastic player, and I don't see why he would be kept out of the first team. He was a key player for Chelsea last season.

Does anyone have an actual source for all these rumours about him being "out of favour" with Mourinho? Or is it all speculation based on his absence from the first few games (which could be down to any number of factors).

I've heard it said that he's "not Mourinho's kind of player". What exactly is meant by that?

Anyway, Chelsea certainly don't need the money, so the only reason to sell would be if the player is unhappy, or the manager has no use for him.

Net this window is 20 mill for us.

Mata was a glorious pipe dream there for a second as millions of Liverpool fans across the world got a lil chubby at the thought. I would have loved him with all my heart too.

Our, Stoke's, new signing from Werder Bremmen, Marko Arnautović, looks to be a right bargain for £2.5million. If he can keep his attitude in check then he could quite possibly be our Michu, or better.

€23m including bonuses supposedly....

Think that figure (net spend) includes reclaimed wages. We've sold Downing and Carroll as well.

Yup, Downing and Carroll roughly cancel out the Sakho and Illori deals, but we've also bought Mignolet, Aspas and Alberto. 7m net spend seems too low.

We tried, but failed. Key word tried, better than not trying at all?!

I find it strange seeing all these people complaining about wasting time on Fabregas (and any other transfers which apparently didn't come off).

To quote a famous Ferguson phrase, Fabregas would have almost certainly been 'the missing piece in the puzzle' and would have likely had a similar impact on the team that RVP did last year.

So as you say, surely better to try than not.

Admittedly the offers that were apparently made did seem a bit low, but I always take any headline figures with a huge pinch of salt.

Some people in here seem to think that this is the first time Man U have started a season with a 'weak(er) team/squad on paper'. Ok it's the first year without Fergie, but some people seem to think that the title can be won and lost before the transfer window has even shut.
