Hey guys, ive got a build to do before xmas (yay another one :D :D :D)

As per usual , id like ya all to check it to see what you would change!

the case is already chosen and is a MicroAtx (dont really want to give it away yet as i want to do a nice build log on this ;) )

colour scheme probably White and blue.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - OEM £179.99
1 x Seasonic X-Series 750w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £129.95
1 x Corsair Vengeance Blue 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit (CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B) £129.95
1 x Gigabyte Z77MX-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £104.99
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE120BW) £84.95
1 x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001) HDD £74.99
1 x EK Water Blocks EK-Supremacy Clean CSQ £51.95
2 x XSPC RS240 120mm Radiator - Black £39.95 (£79.90)
Total : £836.65 (includes shipping : FREE).

i do want a fully modular power supply (due to some ideas) but if possible would like as small as possible (unit and cables).

graphics card is now a 680 with a xspc raystorm block on it!

soooo.... what dya think?

oh, and ram was purchased from the MM so ive already got that and dont worry about the watercooling supplies, already got the ideas for that and know what i want, im just waiting on stock/suppliers.

revised due to gratefully received help :D

considered these instead?

YOUR BASKET
1 x Silverstone Strider Gold Series - 550 Watt (SST-ST55F-G) £109.99
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE120BW) £84.95
1 x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001) HDD £74.99
Total : £281.03 (includes shipping : £9.25).

the psu is gold rated, 550w if you're not sli-ing. best of all its 140mm long and modular as well.
dont think the wd blacks are good value at all.
same goes for the v4. not very good performance for the price
rather get the sammy evo 128gb + 2gb seagate

doh, tbh, that was the HDD that i thought id picked, no idea how the WD one got in there!!

and yeah, i was going to go for haswell again, but that black mobo would really kill the aeisthetics of what im trying to do...

point taken on the SSD though, i usually go for the Samsung 840 series, but saw the crucial one at 37.99, never tried crucial so thought id give it a bash. I was in 2 minds though, and i completely forgot about the new ones!! will definitely try them instead ;) - Cheers!

why the 670 over the 770? is it reference, i want to chuck a block on it ;)

You don't want to go with a dead platform just to get a blue motherboard surely :)

I'm not sure if that 670 uses a reference PCB. I think the 770 is really poor value in comparison to the 670s at these prices.

ideally no, but then again, with how white and blue everything else is going to be, i dont much want to compromise it by having a black pcb motherboard.

i could take a look into spraying it white or at least go for the H87M-G43 so its got some blue accents... hmmm things to think about :D

its certainly something to think about though, i did check through all the haswell boards first but just couldn't find a Microatx that would suit the build really.

il have to have a think about the 670 too, i thought the 770 was on the similar level to a 680 so around a 10% performance increase over the 670?

i might just be pulling these figures out of my rear end though as ive not slept today after my night shift and as im typing seem to be getting more unsure :D

oooou, that looks like an option, i wont be sli-ing, well not for a while at least, if i do, i could switch out the PSU. If 550w would suffice, then id be happy with that, it ticks all the boxes!

true, but if the 670 isnt reference im gonna struggle finding a block for it.

it seems with the new series of cards, they have forgotten to get any reference mid range cards in stock ( i did start a thread about it a week or so ago tbh http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18537557)

i might take my 680 out of mine, and use that for this build, then grab 2 670's and stick them in my shinobi.... would cost about the same lol

The specs say that card uses the 680 reference PCB.

Two of those 670s would be so far above a 680 it's not even worth thinking about ;)

yeah, i think this is going to be the way forward tbh!

ive been wanting to SLI in mine for a while, but couldnt justify the price, but if i can get rid of my 680 to subsidise at least one of the 670's then i suppose its not too bad!

I somehow think you won't need much persuasion...

The 680 2nd hand is worth about the same as that 670 anyway.

yeh, thats the one i mentioned further up i think, and nah, its gotta be white an blue really, i could get the black and blue one and get some PCB spray though and spray it white maybe?

il take a look into that though when i get around to getting the mobo, ive seen it done so i it should be possible :D
