Hello everyone!

I do hope you don't mind me sharing this with you. It's very early stages, and if I'm breaking any rules or such, I do apologise.

I'm going to the University of Lincoln to study Audio Production, which I'm really excited about.

About a year ago I had this idea, a very simple idea, a way I could keep in touch with my friends and family once I move away to university. A very easy way for me to achieve this was to produce a video diary which I would upload to YouTube each week, so that they could see my face, and actually know what I'm getting up to.

I launched the project three weeks ago, and have since realised that as well as it being a great way to share my experiences with my family and friends, I would also be able to share them with anybody else who is interested. Whether these people are young, old, whatever. I then also realised that it could perhaps become a very useful tool for anyone who is considering university for themselves. I had very little guidance in making the decision for myself, so I thought it would be nice to show people what it's actually like, so they can make the right decision for themselves, whether that be to go, or not to go.

I'd like to share this project of mine with as many people as I can, and not just for views on YouTube. I do plan to see this through to the end, and it will span over the next three years, so that's at least 150 instalments to the diary, providing I keep up with it of course. And I intend to do just that.

If you're interested in following me on my journey through University, you can do so here - http://www.youtube.com/user/MrAnthonyTalks27

I also have a written blog, and use the various social networking sites which you'll find on my actual channel.

Thank you for reading!

Early days I know, but you need to cut down on your waffling. I really struggled to watch that.

I was interested in this but you used the word 'basically' twice in the first minute so I had to stop watching, also get a haircut.

Three tips:

1. Don't record a video with you sat in front of a bright window.
2. Buy a goddam brush!
3. Don't be as boring as static.

Thank you for such quick responses, and for for the feedback, I'm aware there are plenty of things to work on.

I'm know about my rambling and vocabulary, it's already been pointed out and I am trying to work on it. It's not exactly a strong point of mine, but it should improve with practice.

And I know, my hair is due a cut. It has been a while, it really does grow quick, and in a crazy fashion. I'm booked in this Wednesday, so it's getting sorted don't worry! Haha. :)

I get that it's not something that everyone is interested in, I am working on it, and things should improve. If it's not for you, then thank you for taking the time to have a look anyway, I do appreciate it.

Aww I can't even grief you for being boring or anything because you are being so polite to people.

Damnit :-(

Was bored by 10 seconds in, turned it off 40 seconds in :(.

It's alright. I'm trying to make it better. Knowing that actually helps, so thank you.

The first video is just bad, the second is too long, and the third has hardly anything in it, so I know it's all a bit naff at the moment.

I'll stick at it, I know I can improve things. Again, thanks for taking a look.

I'm just a polite person! I genuinely need the feedback and the criticism, be it negative or constructive. It all helps, so don't worry about it.

You remind me of Napoleon Dynamite :D

And yes, it's not the most interesting thing to watch at the mo. But I'm sure it will get more interesting when you're at uni.

I have glasses now, so that probably enhances the look! :D

Yeah, I know. I'm sure it will too, so thanks!

Thanks for sharing and if you like doing it, keep going. Everything gets better with practice.

No problem! I will stick at it, I'm nt really one for giving up. Thanks for looking, and you're right, everything does get better with practice.

That's usually what I tell the ladies.

Any luck with that? :)

It's good to see an effort being made to tackle something like this and I hope that you see it through to the end. You do need to make each diary fairly concise so that you can keep your audience interested.

That introduction is far too long and repetitive so maybe you should script and time what you are going to say. Try not to use distracting backgrounds and vary them a little. Might even be worth getting a peer review after a few “diary” episodes.

Good luck with it. :)

Thank you, I am working on the length. The most recent upload was rather short, and mostly to the point, so I'll stick to it. A script would be good, and I definitely plan to produce a new channel trailer/project introduction because the one I have is pretty rubbish.

Would you mind explaining the last part of your comment? I'm confused by the peer review part.

Thanks.

If I kept a diary throughout university it would go something like

Week 1 - this is alright this lark, lots of inexperienced drinkers though
Week 2 - well, theres not much work but oh well
Week 3 - good lord I'm poor

Fast forward to week 12 or something - Oh man, I'm so hungry, I sold some games to buy food, I'm trying to live on mainly rice at the moment and the prospect of more rice tomorrow is pretty sickening, will someone hire me for the love of god?

And then carry on for a while about the same.

Year 2 - woo hoo got a decent part time job, lets buy tonnes of LSD and mushrooms and take up buddhism, basically becoming some sort of weird hippy hybrid. (I'm still missing large chunks of that year)

Year 3 - Well, that was alright, now to get on with my life, lets revisit the idea of a masters/ PhD at a later date.

Don't see the need for a diary for going through university, a lot of people do it.

I got bored very quick, but I don't know/have any interest in you.

If this is for your friends/family, I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

I can't imagine anybody else caring unless you start building roof slides or doing any other crazy things people do at uni (in films only)
