SSN finally clocked on that Fellaini has handed in a transfer request.

I was reading on the BBC that having the deadline on the 2nd could cause havoc because " signing on fees" are usually triggered on the 1 st

Im not sure if this is true or not but it made me laugh:D

I would presume that Everton have left it so late given them the chance to get Fernando or who ever sorted out and let United sweat a bit and increase the price.

You lucky ****s.

Sammy Ameobi will see you through.

We spend 42.5m on Ozil but couldn't pay 30+ for Higuain, considering we needed Higuain more this deal stinks tbh

Also it seems we need to pay €6m VAT on top of the €36m for Herrera, which is what's causing the hold up. :/

I always thought that VAT was only applicable if the selling club forced the player to pay his buy-out clause? All the rumours yesterday were saying that Bilboa were not going to do this:confused:!

He won't get his yearly signing on fee, and obviously it's pushed up the fee of him a bit.
He was probably told to hand in a request, save Everton money and I doubt he cares on his salary and the chance to play for United.

-- Carrick Herrera
Nani/Zaha Rooney Kagawa
---- Van Persie

not bad
-- Carrick/Anderson Herrera/Fellaini
Nani/Zaha Rooney/Kagawa Young
---- Van Persie

Don't underestimate Young and Anderson this season.

So according to Guillem Balague the deal for Herrera has all been agreed, the contract and terms finalised, just waiting on the some issues with the Spanish league and the payment for the clause

Anyone listening to 5Live... Harry Redknapp is on and absolutely loving it. Asking Danny Murphy if he wants to come on it. Saying he's looking to do a few more swoops on some players if he can. :D

MANCHESTER UNITED UPDATE

Spain football writer Andy West: "Spanish radio station Cadena Cope is claiming that Manchester United have seen a bid of €40m for Sami Khedira rejected by Real Madrid, making the Germany international approximately the 612th La Liga midfielder that United have failed to sign this summer.

"On that subject, there's still no word on whether the Ander Herrera deal will go through, with the issue believed to be tax payments that would be triggered if United meet the €36m buy-out clause for the Athletic Bilbao midfielder. Could be a very late one.

Well if they are included in the 42.5m price tag then yeah great, but 42.5 for just Ozil when we bought Cazorla for half that fee is shocking.

So, you can't do comparisons like that. It depends how much clubs want to keep players and what it takes to get them to move. If you want to look at things that way then bale cost twice as much so you got a bargain ;)

If you had offered Ozil 28 million and it got rejected you would be whinging again about not paying enough to get a player.

If I was an arsenal fan I'd just be happy the club have shown a willingness to spend money and hopefully they will build on Ozil now with the odd big buy each year. It can't all be done in one window. They may come back for Suarez in January or next year.

Who knows, but Ozil is a quality player :)

Tax related issues see United race against time to complete Herrera deal Sportsmail's Adam Crafton reports:

'Spanish sources are saying that the Manchester United delegates have left the LFP offices without completing the required paperwork - but are set to return very soon. The deal is particularly difficult because of the complex tax-related issues. Adding to the confusion is the involvement of a release clause - United are set to meet the player's €36million buyout fee.

'These kind of deals aren't designed for deadline day. Bayern Munich signed Javi Martinez from Athletic Bilbao last year and officials privately admitted that it was one of the most hard-fought and long-drawn they have encountered.

'Sportsmail understands that United do remain 'hopeful and confident' of completing the £30.5 million transfer this evening. As Sportsmail first reported this afternoon, the player has agreed in principle a five-year contract worth in the region of £3.3million a year.
'United, Athletic Bilbao and Herrera need to hand the 'deal' document to the Premier League by 11pm, but the finer details can go until midnight.

'Interesting, too, that Marouane Fellaini has handed in a transfer request. That has been on the cards all day, but it means the Belgian relinquishes his rights to any loyalty bonuses. He probably should have done it a little bit earlier.'

Don't think this Herrera deal is going to happen, all seems a bit too complex.

Lukaku may as well gone back to WBA. He needs to be playing for a bigger club (i.e Chelsea) or he may as well just leave. Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs should be in for him but I imagine Chelsea won't sell to them.
