Really annoyed at this. i just spend £3k on a 4770K PC build, i wish Intel would have publicized this more

Why would you spend £3,000 and then immediately change the CPU and motherboard?

I didnt know about this. I thought their next CPu would be next year, not so soon. Now I have to change my mbb and CPU

Of course, it doesn't have the speed increases that you get from the Haswell architecture.
It just has more cores, and games don't tend to use more than 4/8 anyway.

Almost 2 years on and my 3960X is still going strong and clocks higher
Doesn't look like much of a step forward for 2 years.
According to reviews the was no point buying a Q6600 over a "faster" E8400

All I see from those benchmarks is that it's virtually the same as the 4770K/3930K in GPU limited games (slightly lower due to them using crappy memory settings).

Gaming seems to be a mixed bag, at stock vs 4770K. Hope the 4930K is a better clocker as from the HC review it sounds like most the chips are topping out around 4.5-4.7Ghz.

I think I made the right move downgrading to a 4770K setup from X79, saved a few bucks, and Ivy -E really doesn't seem very good. Certainly not worth the extra cost over a 4770K setup.. Meanwhile I'm saving what pennies I can for Haswell -E, we all know that's when it gets interesting
