After months of looking around for a viable alternative to the GoPro, testing what is on offer from many different brands out there we have finally found something worth selling and worth challenging the awesome GoPro Cams!

Youtube footage from these cams is not promising, awful low light performance even on the 5S. Only 30fps @ 1080p & poor sound quality. Even though I flogged my Hero 3 due to lack of use, if I had to buy another action cam it'd be another GoPro.

Firstly, I have no youtube video on as the format the record in will need dropping significantly quality wise to be put on youtube so we are in the process of converting avi to mp4 so that it can be uploaded to youtube without a massive quality drop. (I suggest looking at their website as the quality on there if far better and much closer to what I have experienced when connecting direct to the TV.)

Low light performance was poor as it was fixed iso, new firmware has auto iso which gets rid of most of the grain and is much better now. Sound quality is great if you dont use the waterproof case... who would have thought that enclosing the unit would block out the sound leaving it muffled... :rolleyes:

It does yes but it compresses too much, compressing an AVI leaves it looking soft and pixelated so uploads from the 5S look awful compared to what the actually record. Im working on it though so we can show it off properly :)

No need to look on their site, that's like telling someone to go and look at a professionally post-processed GoPro footage on theirs, i.e. it's not representative of real life use. Instead you can simply do a comparison on Youtube on the video quality posted from Hero 3 blacks compared to the 5S, the Hero 3 isn't exactly leaps and bounds ahead but it's definitely better and £50 less.
 
No 4K or 2.7K?
I shoot in 2.7K/30p or 4K/15p and then extract stills from the 4K video with my Hero 3 black.
2.7K/30p is my go to shooting mode as I can crop the video and still get a full resolution 1080p30 video.
Also, no 1080p60 is a problem. I use this for slowmo. Your description for the 5S says 1080p60 but the actual specs say it's 1080i60.
 
Hmm, resolutions aren't really there when comparing with the GoPro Hero 3 Black.
