Surely whether they're pretty is subjective anyway? So pretty much irrelevant?
With my Mrs, at present I earn about 10x what she does. She's basically moved and missed chances to really progress due to my job, so I'm in the process of helping her realise her potential as well, as it's important for me, that she can do this. Not only for her to be happy and feel proud of herself, but for our shared dreams.
That's the most important part of it, ugly, pretty, poor or not. It's what you both expect and want out of life.

No, but I do see others my own age moving on with their lives quicker than me.. I also think I want more out of life than her and will inevitably have to get used to this

Depends on the ugly.
As one thing is pretty much set in stone, and the other can be improved (unless the pretty girl is mentally deficient), I'd go with the pretty girl.
No point being with someone if you aren't attracted to them.
