2013 US Open *Tennis*

Robson's through in straight sets and Daniel Evans has just knocked out the 11th seed Nishikori in straight sets which is a huge upset and the biggest win of his career by a mile

Heather Watson is out though unfortunately but good from Laura Robson and great from Dan Evans, hopefully he'll keep improving on the back of this win.

Yeah, I watched the Heather Watson match last night and considering the time she has lost this year through glandular fever she played some great stuff.

She was helped by Simona Halep playing well below the level she has for the past 3 months, but promising signs for Heather and I hope the match gives her a boost.

Murray through in straight sets, but if they keep scheduling him for 3am UK time, I won't get to see him play much this year!

Laura Robson through to the third round, Li Na up next (again). I find it odd watching her play as when she turns it on, she's brilliant, yet sometimes this side of her comes to the surface that turns her into a double fault and unforced error machine.

Evans out, beaten in straight sets by Robredo...did well that lad. Hes got some talent perhaps one to watch out for the future.

Murray through in straight sets, apart from the first set where he was awful he hit the ball extremely well. Didn't move well, I wonder if his back has flared up.

Anyway, no chance of beating Berdych, Djokovic and Nadal back to back though especially considering Novak and Rafa have joke draws and will be as rested as they can be.

Federer's out. Straight sets to Robredo. I wonder how long Roger will continue playing for now? Really can't see him winning another Grand Slam. For someone who has won so many, to get to the point where you cannot compete to win anymore, must hurt. I was thinking of when Hendry quit snooker. Quite a few thought he still had something to give, but as someone who was so used to winning, competing just wasn't enough.

losing is one thing, but going out in straight sets? it's not looking good.

i remember jumping to his defence after he got knocked out of wimbledon so early saying he's still got more in him.... but maybe not. :o

Sad to see Federer lose last night and in straight sets, think hes getting on a bit and hes now ranked 7 so cant see him going up but rather he will fall down. Well past his prime now and as great a player he is, perhaps its time he called it a day and retire with some dignity.

Think its going to be Nadal, Novak and Murray to contest the final. At the moment id put my money on Nadal, he is looking very very good since coming back from his injury. Still dont like him and would rather Murray or Novak win it.

Come on Ivanovic, playing against the human screamer Azarenka.

Dear god my ears :/, have had to mute the volume now:p.

That's a brave prediction there, pretty off the wall.

;)

i can't even watch any of this because i don't have sky but i just noticed this score on the bbc website: Djokovic v Granollers 6-3 6-0 6-0. that's just ridiculous. men aren't supposed to get humped like that. shall i put my neck on the line and say Djokovic is looking like a strong contender? :p
