Decided on my new car

Consider AA Breakdown cover with breakdown insurance.

They will pay up £500 towards any single bill 4-5 times a year with a £35 excess charge. Some very good feedback if you google them.

The as stuff is worth looking at. Its never going to fully cover much on an a6 but it will potentially soften the blow significantly on clutch/fly or injectors etc at a none too silly outlay sum.

Seems a good deal. Hope it's what you want :)

What's the reliability like on these 2.7 and 3.0 units?

Yeah it is what i want, had a 2.0 before and loved it so i know what i'm getting.

From what i've read, the reliability pretty good, solid engine on the 2.7, i had a good drive of it and it was nice and smooth with smooth gear changes, also checked the auto was quick to change and it was fine. That's my only concern about the car, i love the DSG / multitronic boxes, but when they go, they cost a lot to fix, which is the main reason i want a warranty!

You are not going to get a warranty worth the paper its written on for a 112k mile 7 year old car so I'd stop trying to find one - they are all crap.

The AA breakdown repair cover is probably as good as you'll get.

Multitronic iirc but that's around the time they improved the box reliability significantly. If it has the old box though you're absolutely off your head to touch it

Well, as fox pulled this thread from the shadows somewhere via another thread, i may as well update...

I've had the car nearly 2 years now and not had a single problem, last MOT it needed a replacement bulb and that's it. I've put 33k miles on it, driven to Barcelona in it, then driven to Bruges in it, all i've had to replace is replace tyres and 2 brake pads. I have no desire to change yet.

I will also now lie more contently in my bed, thank you.

Hilarious banter aside, it sounds like it's serving you very well. I've always thought the A6s were perfect nice big ole family cars.
