So yesterdag I was driving my rx8 up a hill doing 60, put ny foot on the gas to ovettake a lorry. Car revved quickly like I had pressed the clutch, then the rpm lowered and car carried on.

I presume this was the clutch slipping?

I have tried putting the car in third/fifth at idle to see if it stalls, and it does.
I can reverse fine when cold and hot.
The engine has a lot of vibration at idle until clutch is presed then dissapears.
car drives perfectly fine, it's only when I give it the beans around 4k rpm it struggles for a couple seconds

Cheers!!

On a similar note, someone else drove my car for the first time ever during a test drive as I have it up for sale.

I then drove it and the clutch immediately slipped after I launched it hard.
I thought it was wheelspin but I realised it was the clutch taking a second or two to re-engage.

Is it possible that it just got really hot because he was driving like a spastic or is it on its way out? I've never had any problems with it at all and the clutch hasn't complained at all in the past week I've been driving it..

Thoughts?

Probably starting to go, wait for it to get worse - might take a long time, might not. If its slipping all the time its an issue, very occasionally will do no harm

Little from column A....

An overheating clutch can slip and then be fine again but they don't normaly get that way unless they are fairly close to the end anyway. unless he went full retard.

Get upgraded flywheel if ur doing Clutch.
Had it on 2 cars and love light flywheels :D

Hmm.. He didn't seem to be slipping it when changing gears but the biting point has been very high the last 3 years I've owned it..

And of course he hasn't called back at it's been a week since he viewed it. ********.

No low rev judder or other symptoms?

Well I just blasted through Germany and did some 0-60 launches on the way home after the motorway and no slipping at all. Weird.

It's a shame I'm selling it- what a car. Feels so alive at 140 mph winding through twisty, hilly autobahn. Epic.
