Need to vent a lil frustration lol. A lot of the time I use parts in various builds I'm doing but sometimes I sell stuff on fleabay. So I sell a PC component, something I have been using for a year or so and I know is perfect working order. Special Delivery and very securely packaged.

Buyer pays, job done..

4 weeks later get a Paypal dispute. 'Item not as described'. No other communication from buyer..

Buyer has used it for 4 weeks, then claims it's faulty. I explain in resolution center that the product has warranty, and that as he has used it for 4 weeks I can't refund for damage that could have been caused by user, but to use the warranty and get a replacement or repair.. Fair enough I thought?

Not according to the buyer, he wants a full refund. He escalates it to customer support. I use Ebay chat for help am told

"I'll recommend that you contact our Resolution Team and share the information that the buyer didn't contact you at any point of time and instead of redeeming the warranty with the manufacturer they've filed a case on eBay after using the item for 4 weeks."

So I do this, after a 1 hour phone call I get this email, immediately after the phone call..

"We're writing to let you know that we've reviewed the details of this case and reached a final decision. We've asked the buyer to return the item to you for a full refund.
Details:
Decision:
This case has been decided in the buyer's favour.

Comments:
The buyer has been asked to return the item to you. Once the tracking information shows the item has been delivered to you, the buyer will be issued with a full refund."

So the buyer uses my item for 1 month, and or decides he doesn't want it or breaks it. Then he sends it back to me broken and gets the money back.. I'm left with a faulty item that I cannot sell. He may even already claimed on or voided the warranty..

This has really put me off selling on Ebay lol. Would you guys be annoyed by this?

Main reason I avoid selling on ebay as much as possible.

Their statement of "The buyer has been asked to return the item to you. Once the tracking information shows the item has been delivered to you, the buyer will be issued with a full refund." is incredibly flawed and risky. He could get tracking on anything and send it to you.

I suggest a reply along the lines of...

"dear ebay... go and suck on my............"

I sold an Alienware keyboard on ebay recently and the buyer then claimed I had sent him a totally different keyboard.

After hours of online chat's to Paypal they did actually agree that the buyer may have been trying a scam and they unfroze my funds so I got paid for it but I don't know if the buyer did manage to get his refund.

I only buy things from ebay now.

I hadn't even thought about that :(

Am I right in thinking that if I don't receive or accept delivery of the item from the postman, he doesn't get is money back?

If so...

Did you actually respond via the Paypal dispute center and explain the item was sent in full working condition, and that the user could have damage it in the 4 weeks since receiving it?

Going via phone or online chats never gets logged into the Paypal system, so soon as the monkeys read the dispute see you never replied, they'll instantly side with the buyer...

Yeah I replied twice in resolution center. All polite and helpful but firm in my opinion that after a month of use he should use the warranty as he could have damaged it. Then he escalated, when I went on Ebay chat, I genuinely thought they would side with me. Then an hour phone call with customer support and they basically just sided with the buyer even though they said it may of been damaged by the user..

Very geared towards the buyer these days. I doubt I will sell on Ebay again. I've lost the postage cost £15, the cost of phone calls, the cost of the item..

Live and learn I guess.

If he doesn't use recordef delivery then he wont get a refund.

You can simply reject the package and it won't show delivery.

I would unleash a campaign of hate on this guy. I would use his address and contact number to sign him up for as many scams and junk mail, calls and texts as i could, i would also post the same details on any homosexual dating/dogging site i could find.
I would also pass his details on to Wheat7777777, who is currently causing trouble in the "believe in god???" thread, i would tell Wheat he need saving and enlightening.
I would also post a number of different animal turds to his door.

I have had a chap email me telling me an item i sold to him is faulty and demands a refund or replacement without sending it back.

I said he could return it but it has been documented before sale such as invisible ink security marks and the such. he stopped emailing me after that.

Sell them on the members market instead. You might get less money than ebay but you save on fee's and will generally have no trouble here (it helps other members as well )

That's a good idea, how do I access the members market?

This made me lol, you are a funny dude (:

Are you really that surprised?

Exact reason why I stopped using eBay to sell stuff years ago. I hope you have no actual balance in your Paypal account so they can't take any money from you.

You need 1000 posts and registered for 180 days which you have both. You need to enable your trust.

Trust activation is either found in your UserCP, or you can press the trust button that appears at the bottom of all your posts.

Once you do that, should have MM access after 24 hrs. Its at the bottom of the forum. If you do decide to use it make sure to read all the rules (they can be quite strict)

Yeah I have money in Paypal they have frozen the money that is in the dispute, I can't access it. Even if he never returns my item I don't know if the funds will be unfrozen :(

I won't use Ebay again. Local sales, into builds or members market from now on.

Thanks, I think I have trust enabled, will check it out :)

When it arrives back file a dispute saying it was not the item sent to him you have had back.
Its unbeleievable that ebay do this :(
