Sexy bike!

I went up and did a local 10tt and put in 26.36, fastest of the night was 24.06. I'm happy as it's the first I've tried and I know I didn't bury myself on certain bits so there's always next time. Although I only wanted to break 30 mins at 20mph average but managed 22.7mph I think that works out at?

Yeah normal road bike and I'm not happy with my normal road position and I feel about as aero as a block of flats.

This one is apparently hilly for a ten and has quite a few roundabouts as you go out on the road, come along it fully again and then double back on yourself again!

I want to do it again and beat it and I could see a rear light in the distance that just made me want to catch it :(

Hmmmm This is interesting

I found a press Kit, featuring the 2014 model line up and changes

Kinetic Announces Details of its Re-designed 2014 Stationary Trainers
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – August 15, 2013 - Kinetic Trainers today announced details of its re-designed 2014 trainer line, its first
revamp of the line since 2007. Overall changes focus on improved 29er compatibility, enhanced ergonomics and lighter weight.
Trainers also now come fully assembled, so they are ready to use right out of the box.
Kinetic replaced the cantilever design of its flagship model, the Rock and Roll, with a design that centers the pivot point and rider
weight over the elastomer stack, reducing rider-induced bounce and sag and allowing lower bolt tension to give a more active
side-to-side motion. The new centered design also allows for the use of forward-facing support arms, instead of the previous
curved arms, which results in a smaller overall footprint. The axle support mechanism now uses rubber-over-plastic knobs for
improved ergonomics, and a refined upper frame to fit up to 29 x 2.4” tire sizes. Overall, the Rock and Roll went on a diet and lost
two pounds. MSRP is $579.
Changes to the Road Machine, Magnetic and Cyclone models include weight reductions of one pound, rubber-over-plastic
molding on all knobs and feet, and a refined frame design so all Kinetic trainers fit up to 29 x 2.4” tires sizes. MSRP is $379,
$299 and $269 respectively.
No changes were made to the company’s

Nice ride!

I was gonna head down for this tonight as well, but got stuck in work. :( I'm guessing they're pretty much finished for the season, as nights are drawing in a bit?

Get some lights.

To be honest, right now is the worst time, because of the change in light. It's OK when it's bright, and it's OK when it's dark. It sucks now when it's half dark or the sun is setting and you can't see.

Have you got one of those lights from eBay which I've seen many of you guys have?

Speaking of compacts and big cassettes!...

I don't post much here but along with a group of work colleagues will be cycling across the Pyrenees next week (semi following the raid route). I think I'm ready...ish!

If anyone has any tips, they will be gladly received and if anyone is interested, I'll be keeping a blog here.

:)

anyone looking for front lights, i've received mine and had them working today, jesus :censored; they're bright. Lighting up my garden quite easily (enough to see a vast array of slugs ) Can try and get some pictures tomorrow night if anyone wants. Got 2 for £14 from ebay

I have a Cree XM-L T6 based torch type light and a Cateye EL-135. The Cateye is good for being seen, and the Cree is good for when I'm on unlit roads and need to see, though I need to get some higher capacity batteries for it as it chews through them.

I got out and did 27 miles in the dark this evening. I took in an unlit cat 4 climb which I knew had a dodgy surface. The Cree did a sterling job of lighting my path. Descending in the dark feels ropy, but that didn't stop me hitting 40 on one descent and getting a PR on another. Felt a bit chancy, though. I think I'll have to stop pushing my luck soon before I run out of talent...

Hmm would a rear 12-30 be overkill on a Compact (for climbing)?

A 28 should be enough for most of what you'll hit in this country. It's been enough for me in Lancashire, anyway, and I'm not the strongest climber in the world. Damien had a 32 for a time and the spinning was ludicrous. Minty gets by on a 25 on a lot of the same climbs I ride.

I found a 12-27 just right going from a 12-25 (10 speed setups).
I currently have a 12-28 (11 speed though, its basically a 12-25 with the 28 on as a get out clause! ;) ).
