The PS3 didn't outsell 360 by some margin, in fact it was only this year I think that it overtook the 360 sales.

Given X360 had at least a year of the market to itself as a head start and significantly better pricing the fact that PS3 overtook 360 at all is quite an achievement.

In any case, I think Sony will romp the early sales for PS4 at 2:1 but I expect XO to catch up a year or so later as more casual gamers/people interested in the single box under the TV in the living room stuff has the opportunity to prove itself attractive outside the dedicated console gamers market.

Either way I hope both do well, it can only be good for gamers all round and as a PC gamer as well I'm hoping XO using DirectX will prove a boost for titles coming to PC.

PS3 had the advantage of sales in the Japanese market, the 360 never broke any significant ground there.

HDMI to DVI cable? That's what I use with PS3

Same here, but going to look change it to an HDMI to DP cable. Can't seem to find one that works that way round though

With a years lead time, then it has outsold it by a margin!

If you can shift 75 million units in 7 years you've done well.

If your competitor can shift 75 million units and it only takes them 6 years, then they have done considerably better!

If I was to choose one I'd go for the PS4 without doubt, you could have course take the easy route and get both.

PC is plugged into the DVI only other connections are VGA and Component. Damn!

Those that pre-ordered from the MS store do they take payment on pre-order?

Get the PC on VGA and XBONE on HDMI to DVi - That's what I'll be doing anyway, the Xbox will be getting much more use.

Oops missed the bit about HDCP - I can't recall but I'm pretty sure the 2405 doesn't support it which is when I upgraded to the 2407 as I had the PS3.

Just get whatever one you want more. I couldn't care if it was only me and my mates who had Xbox Ones, most of those I find online (PSN & Live) just annoy me with their voice/camping/crashing into you when you lap them...

I've done that with my PC, and the VGA picture quality isn't as bad as I expected. At worst, I might get a DVI switch, but probably won't bother.

People can tell the difference between VGA and DVI? I've had my PC on VGA, DVI and Displayport (currently have one screen on displayport and the other DVI) ....they all look the same to me

I can't really tell, they all look good on my screen (U2412M).

Much easier to spot the differences between different screens

Go for the one that has the more attractive games for your taste or where your friends are going if you do lots of online gaming. If you're an all round gamer go for the one with the better launch/first 6 months of games for you and look at the other console a couple of years down the line after price cuts if you feel you're missing out on something.

If I was really worried I'd go for XO on launch because I prefer the launch games/exclusives and I'm pretty sure if I was disappointed with XO and wanted to jump ship 6 months down the line I could sell my XO plus a few games for enough to buy a brand new PS4.

I want to get Dead rising 3 and probably watch dogs.

Also the "day one" edition games are silly prices!

I told my girlfriend about my reasons for switching to PS4 originally, told her the other day I had switched back and she said "Why?" I explained to her the games appeal to me more on the XB1 and she said "That's stupid, why would get the less powerful console?"
