*** The Official Sony Xperia i1 'Honami' Thread ***

This Honami does look enticing with it's metal frame and killer specs. However I'm whipped by SAMOLED so that severely limits me to the phone I get.

The htc one screen was great kona, the s4 is great but I dunno I dont think its all that the one is just as good imo.

Back to topic hopefully this time sony will top there game.

Yup my dad has the One, it's great for an LCD screen no doubt. But IMO the SAMOLED in the GS4 is the best SAMOLED ever now they've got the over-oversaturated colours under control.

SAMOLED is just on another level and wins for me with it's perfect blacks and infinite contrast.

If the screen on the Honami is up there with the One, then this phone will be a killer option for many.

EDIT - could have gone with less bezel, -5mm top and bottom.

MC Hammer pants! :p

Na, over sized flagships like the GS4 don't fit comfortably so why not take it to the max? The XZ Ultra will fit in your back pocket ...and don't forget belt holsters from the 90s :D

Personally the iPhone 5/Razr I size is enough for me (4.3-4.5" screen without the bezel) The Z1 mini would be good but I don't want to sacrifice OS support. :(

GS3/4 is the about max I can pocket comfortably, best trade off between massive screen in a small footprint for me.

I reckon I could live with a GNote at a push.

Though no Sony(currently) is worth that agro :D

I'm picking one of these up and hoping for an AOSP ROM for it being available shortly.
May as well wait out for the Nexus 5 with KitKat but I'm hankering for some more screen estate from my One X

I watched from the start then just tuned out... very bland, uninspirational, full of marketing buzz words. They don't really know how to sell their products. Too much talk about "experience" and not much detail. Probably because it's all incremental. All the products they showed were lumped together in one talk. I don't know why they even bother with a conference just a press release would be fine.

Oh and the smartwatch, complete fail. If this is what Samsung has up their sleeves omg. We really have to wait for Apple to lead the way.

Sony...

I have to agree, compared to the XZ announcement, this one feels pretty weak. The only thing I'm interested in seeing is how the battery life is, as well as the camera quality but that's pretty much it. Everything else just seems be echoing most stuff from earlier in the year.

I'm considering buying a smartwatch, so I'll be interested to see how well Sony's one is, but chances are I may wait for Google's one if they really are working on one.

I'm surprised this isn't getting more attention. High end specs, premium build, a much improved screen and a potentially great camera. That one piece aluminium frame is just drool worthy.

The skin is as light as any and I like that it has onscreen buttons. The only downside are the bezels. I understand that the top bezel is so big because of the bigger camera sensor and the bottom because of symmetry, but the side bezels could do with a bit of trimming.

The problem is that out of the top end phones HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4, ip5, LG G2 etc etc it still has the worst screen and that for me makes it a complete no go.

the new Xperia Z1 doesn't have a terribly impressive display. The problem is that Sony consistently opts for cheaper LCDs than its mobile competition, which shows in the limited viewing angles and washed-out colors on its handsets.
