Yup but having a signposted 150 mile route does appeal! A mate has suggested just doing it ourselves and saving the money.

I'd be up for that if I knew I wouldn't get lost.

Download the GPX, load it into a Garmin 500/800. Job done. The navigation on them is incredibley good.

Seems a bit unnecessary. The main reason wide range cassettes were developed was to avoid carrying 3 rings at the front.

doesn't really help answering my question, I want it as a training bike and steep hills, I want a low ratio

Not properly. It just plots a line which you follow. Its good for the most part until the road forks and you're unsure which road to take. Or it can update the display as you're approaching a turning. In doing so it clears the map and its very easy to miss it. But it gets you from A to B.

A C2C is something I'd like to do. But In this case I'd rather put £80 towards a nice cycling Jacket.

Oh I thought it was a rhetorical question!

You can run 30-32 so yes, you may as well be walking at that speed

by the time you're on 30:32, walking will probably be faster. I don't even have a gear that low on my mountain bike

While some of the comments are disgusting, we don't know what the cyclist was doing and whether they had done anything to put themselves in harm's way.

There's an interesting point in there about how you should only ever approach and advanced stop line from the left. I'm not keen on that idea. If I can see a car is indicating left then there is no way I'm going up the left side of them if I can at all avoid it. I'll go past on the right or just wait behind them.
