Sportifs seem to be getting stupidly expensive these days.
That works out at ~50p/mile just to ride your bike

Yup but having a signposted 150 mile route does appeal! A mate has suggested just doing it ourselves and saving the money.

I'd be up for that if I knew I wouldn't get lost.

Download the GPX, load it into a Garmin 500/800. Job done. The navigation on them is incredibley good.

Does a 500 do navigation?

Not properly. It just plots a line which you follow. Its good for the most part until the road forks and you're unsure which road to take. Or it can update the display as you're approaching a turning. In doing so it clears the map and its very easy to miss it. But it gets you from A to B.

:(.

Some typically poor comments underneath as well.

While some of the comments are disgusting, we don't know what the cyclist was doing and whether they had done anything to put themselves in harm's way.

There's an interesting point in there about how you should only ever approach and advanced stop line from the left. I'm not keen on that idea. If I can see a car is indicating left then there is no way I'm going up the left side of them if I can at all avoid it. I'll go past on the right or just wait behind them.

Wahey my new 6800 groupset has arrived... just in time for the end of summer :p

Should I put it on now and subject it to a winter of grit, or keep the old one until Spring? Do I have that much patience? :(
