Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

Nice overclock that, will definitely help keep the minimums up and stop any bottleneck.
Could still be a bottleneck though. Bf3, (and likely 4) run a lot better on i7 cpu's, particularly with sli/xfire. I had this problem with an i5 3570k, gpu use wouldnt go over 80%. Cpu @4.5ghz, switched to a 3770k and even at stock cpu speed the card use was at 91% max. Clocked it to 4.5ghz and seen higher usage again.

Ya dg just seen new amd cards are due soon see what they are priced at and sell my 7970 won't have to change psu then and maybe get a i7

For this game, there is quite a difference with a multi gpu setup. With a single card it doesnt matter wether you have an i5 or i7. Quite often one more powerful card is the best route to take, but in my case theyre often too expensive. Hence i go mid range then drop another one it at a cheap price.

9 series is due on shelves October, press release 25th of this month.

Source? All we know at the moment is that there is a press release on September 25th. Given TSMC have not started mass production of 20nm manufacturing process yet I can't see the rumoured 9970 arriving until early 2014.

lol, didn't you used to argue there's no difference between i5 and i7's?

give it a rest just trying to troll every response i do.

i said in single card no difference , in dual card yes there is a small difference.

so as hes going crossfire then a i7 may benefit him. if he stays with one card his cpu will be fine.

Not trolling your response at all, I quite clearly remember you saying there was no difference at all, just wasting your money posts in the CPU section, even when people were suggesting it helps with multi GPU setups.

the new cards regardless will be out for bf4 they have to be to sell ;)

whether they'll just be rebrands of 7950 and 7970s probably. if so no real point in upgrading as they'll probably be about 10-15 quicker at best. so probably 5 fps tops in bf4.

well see soon anyway.

I wouldn't bother Westie. If you're going to play on low details at 1080p 1x7970 will be more than enough id imagine. As has been said your 2500k will bottleneck a 2x7970 setup in battlefield 3 and possibly battlefield 4. Not majorly but your gpu's will be stuck at 60-75% usage each and that's assuming you run ultra preset with x4aa. If you run lower expect even worse usage.

Its all but guaranteed that the new cards will come out in time for BF4 for a huge promotion. As said above no one is expecting 20nm yet. Also apparently they won't be named 9970 etc.

It's a good thing really though, when you're young and have a load of free time then why not, but as you get older I think everyone should be focusing on other things but bashing WoW 8 hours a day.

I bet you find you're far more productive now and get a lot more done anyway!

Bashing WoW 8 hours a day? Back when I played properly (most progressed & advanced EU Guild pre-WOTLK) I would easily do 12 hours a couple of days a week and minimum 8-10 for the remaining days, weekends even more! Those were the days! (bear in mind I was also working 6-8 hours a day) ;)

Now I can't even get in 6 hours a week! :(

More productive now but a gaming (+ hardware) itch that never seems to go away...

Happy to be proven wrong :) I seem to remember reading only last month that we wouldn't see anything until 2014!
