Also; it's worth mentioning that PS+ was optional and with the xbox 360, you had to have xbox live to use online services, something you didn't on the PS3.

Yeah but what you and a few others in this forum do is the opposite. Praise them if they do and praise them if they don't :)

For instance, a few people here applauded MS at E3 and said they wanted all these features and they are the future. Now most have been dropped/delayed, you still applaud MS.

Make up your mind, did you want their original vision, their new dumbed down vision, or are you just happy with anything Microsoft say/do?

Personally, I wanted something kinda inbetween what they originally planned and what we have now. I wanted the ability to be able share my digital games among my family and friends. I had no problems with the 24 hour online checks, but I wanted to be able to play my disk based games offline should an internet outage happen. I want to be able to trade/sell my games if I choose to, but that was alledgely going to be possible even with digital games, something that isn't possible any more.

To be honest though, I'm pretty laid back about the features of either console. My main activity with a games console is playing games. It's a bonus if it does other things, but as long as I have great games to play, I'm happy.

I think they probably started PS+ as they realised they couldn't keep offering it for free forever and wanted to 'prepare' their market for a paid service. Clever way of doing it.

some early poll results in a chart containing each polls results. Make of it what you will :)

Look at you whipping up these charts!!

I think it would be fair to let this poll mature a little first till around the 1000 votes mark though, though the trend is clear. MS have turned things around to some degree.

If you're main activity is gaming why do you want the xbox one :p? When it was first announced, I honestly thought that Microsoft were going for the living room, this was less of a console and more of a media hub.

I will say mine has changed now. Originally I was just getting a PS4 and XO later down the line. Now I will be buying both lol :p

Maybe, maybe not. Going in offering real perceived value for money in terms of free games and free content was a genius move, forcing people to pay to play online and use online features was not, but people did it because all their friends did.

Just thought people might want to see how the results have changed considering there's a few people moaning about the number of polls. But yeah like you said the third one has just over 100 votes where the others have nearly 1000 or over

For me I prefer the announced XO games and despite the potential for the PS4 to be a bit more powerful I'm yet to see any real evidence that will effect game playing in any noticeable way. Coupled with the XO controller and Live I much prefer XO as a gaming machine and the other bits are a bonus.

I prefer the Xbox One exclusives over the PS4 exclusives, nothing more, nothing less. If Dead Rising 3 wasn't out until next year and inFamous was a launch day title I have no doubts I'd be firmly in the PS4 camp :)

The contoller is a big plus for me as well, and I also have my Xbox Live paid for until around May next year, whereas I'd have to pay for PS+ if I went down the PS4 route.

What exclusives does the xbox and PlayStation have at launch?

Not the cross platform stuff.

From memory:

Xbox:

Dead Rising 3
Forza 5
Crimson Dragon
Killer Instinct
Lococycle
Peggle 2
Ryse

PS4:

Driveclub
Killzone
Knack
The Order? (Can't remember if that was launch)

Am I wrong in thinking that extra shaders and gpu grunt along with the standard x86 architecture will allow the PS4 to step ahead of the xbone for graphical smoothness?

Surely thats what we have already with PC games - developers don't need to code especially for each graphics card or mhz bump up -we just see the extra gain in terms of FPS - so games should be smoother on the PS4......

They both share exactly the same gpu's and cpu's - so no 'extra' coding neccessary to see the gains....?

still going ps4, dont care if microsoft offered me an xbox one in a gold box, you dont try to rape me and then expect me to fall in love with you. not how it works.

Just a tad, Sony aren't exactly knights in shining armour. Microsoft tried a new model it didn't work but at least they gave it a try.

Like Davey has said previously though I buy a console for the games they offer. XB1 has the games I want to play so it's a no brainer.

I couldn't give a damn about brand loyalty.
