As above, just noticed that all games at full screen and benchmarking software now appear to be locked at 60fps, Grid 2 for example I used to touch 86fps with all settings on their highest. Not run any tests recently and since have upgraded to the latest Nvidia drivers.

When stuff runs in windowed mode, fps will go much higher...

Any one else noticed this or can suggest anything?

Never use VSync myself, I always leave it on the default setting in the NCP.

"Use the 3D application setting"

If frame rate was limited this would also be affected in windowed mode.

I can confirm though that with EVGA Precision X - frame rate limit is disabled.

V-sync is on by default.

I have previously seen some games / demos hitting over 100fps........

confused!

if V-sync is ON... that is why.

because you have 60hz monitors and your v-sync is ON, it will limit to 60fps...
if you use 120hz monitors and use v-sync, it will limit to 120fps.

Ah, that would make sence! thankyou......

Need a monitor upgrade then......

no.. u need to turn off v-sync if you want to "see" the extra fps.

if you get a 120hz monitor and your graphics card cannot output 120fps on your games you probably will feel some "lag"

Most people should be more than happy with a steady 60fps in V-sync. You shouldn't need to upgrade your monitor.

Some people need 120fps for whatver reason (motion sickness etc etc) but personally I can't see any difference.

I hate playing games with V-sync disabled, looks horrible. Plus my 55" Panasonic is 60hz so that'll do for me.
